Every time that I stay at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort for a weekend, I make sure to eat in the river room at least twice. The traditional menu is superb, and I’ve never had a bad dish off of it. I would particularly recommend the fried calamari with banana peppers. There’s also a rotating special every weekend, curated by the head chef. The beer selection is great, consisting of both your traditional beers, and a selection of ShawneeCraft beers – made on site at the brewery. The breakfast buffet is also noteworthy, but, dinner is the star of the show in the river room.

I had no idea what to expect when I arrived at the River Room and I was tremendously disappointed. I trusted that the quality would be fitting of a nice golf resort. I wish I had checked the reviews before my family dined here

The River Room: This was the WORST Mother’s Day brunch I have even experienced. The choices were minimal. The “hot” food was cold and the the food that looked somewhat appetizing, tasted mediocre, at best. And for a party of four, they automatically included a 20% tip on the overpriced meal. (The service staff were really good, however.) Good service aside, I (we) will never go back.

Window seat to view the beautiful golf course totally ruined by dirty windows. So sad. Such a beautiful place not taken care of. Staff tolerant of guests unfortunately. Food adequate at best.

Not thrilled with our dinner. Chicken noodle soup was unique made with spaghetti noodles instead of egg noodles. Chicken Parmigiano was okay, the chicken part, but the sauce was raw tasting and sitting on way too much pasta. When asked if I wanted a box I said no, I got a weird look. Then she was like are you done eating, I said no, I’m still eating my chicken and she walked away like I was bothering her with my answer. Had a hard time locating a box for my mom’s leftovers and finally the gentleman from the back brought one out after she came back to the table 5 times to say I’m still looking for a box.

Mark the bartender is the best! We’ve been coming here for a long time.. He never disappoints. He is extremely attentive to not only us but each and every customer that I see coming in. I’ve seen him in the most busiest of times wether it be after a large golf outings to large wedding parties. We are very impressed. He’s certainly a keeper… Thanks for making our time (s) special!

SKIP THIS PLACE!!!!! It is supposed to be elegant and it had a nice view but the food was horrible. Two of us ordered NY strip steaks. About 1/3 of each 16 ounce steak was gristle. Kept soldiering through and eating edible parts but really not tasty and every other bite was gristle. My bread plate was full of pieces that could not be eaten. The baked potato was ice cold. When reported, they offered a new steak. Uh. No. Then offered a dessert. No thanks we have dessert plans. Acted like there were no other options and I suggested a discount on the bill. This was a $31 steak that would cost WAY less and be not just edible but DELICIOUS at any run of the mill steak house. They gave us a 5% discount on the two steak dinners So, $3 off. WHAT A RIP OFF. I gave the service staff a large tip, assuming this is a management issue. Then, I inadvertently gave them my Health Savings Account card and it was declined. They probably thought we were con artists but I paid properly and off we went. UNACCEPTABLE.
