We stayed at the Marriott W South Beach, which was excellent, and decided one night to eat at the restaurant in the hotel, The Restaurant at W South Beach. We did not have high expectations due to past experiences with restaurants in hotels, but we were very wrong about this one. What a diamond in the rough! The manager of this restaurant is Jonathan, and whatever he is doing to run this place simply produces nothing but a magical taste bud journey for your mouth with a service experience that is second to none. From our first meal to our last (We went almost every day) the experience got better and better. His chef produced five-star quality cuisine that made you crave more. On one night I had the lamb chops……..they were the best lamb chops I had ever had, no exaggeration. Jonathan and his staff’s (props again to the chef for some of the best food we have ever tasted) sense of commitment to their customers left a lasting positive impression on us. This high praise we give does not truly do them justice. I would like to thank them all again for giving us an experience of excellence to remember for the service to the taste buds. I wish I had pictures but the food did not last long enough….sorry.

The location is very nice and the staff was friendly. I got a Pizza 4 cheese, it was ok by italian pizza standard. The bread as a starter was good. Price: it’s not cheap but ok for Miami Beach. for 3 people we spent $156

Quick and convenient located within the W. Food was average, but does not reflect the price. Manager along with staff below par and have never been spoken to in a more unprofessional manner than what was experienced with the manager. Received incorrect information from the staff. Thankfully hotel made it right. However, the treatment received from the manager is/was the most unpleasant experience, as there were derogatory name-calling along personal things said. Would not recommend; as there are many other great places within walking distance.

The west coast oysters were delighted. The mahi sandwich was fresh and tasty but I was very disappointed at the soggy bottom bun, it was terrible. The Margherita pizza was ok… wish the basil was more pungent and the evoo. The watermelon salad was fresh and tasty.

I scoured Miami Beach for a restaurant where we could get an elegant ocean-side dinner on the last day of our vacation. We chose The Restaurant over Setai just down the boardwalk because they had full entrees put together on their menu. Setai was more of a family-style or a la carte menu. This menu ended up being different from what was online, so the meals we had picked out before going there were unavailable. We were told that the menu changed the day before. I got the special, a snapper, potato, and tomato type lasagna, and had calamari on it. I didn’t even know what it was at first, I had to ask. My first taste was not good and I then panicked that this was all going to cost over $100.00 with my boyfriend’s entrée included. The calamari started to taste better but the meal overall was bland and I had to add a lot of salt to bring out the flavor. The server didn’t say it had calamari on it and also said the special was $45.00 and it was $46.00 on the check. My boyfriend got the short ribs and said that the plate reminded him of the pot roast his mom makes. (not something we want to pay a premium for at a restaurant) We hoped for much more impressive. There was no one at The Restaurant and Setai had a very nice dinner crowd. There was one of the colony cats walking around the outdoor dining room. I didn’t like my meal to be honest and I wasn’t very impressed by my boyfriends either. The dining tables were unfinished and had moisture or oil stains on them. I did like the chairs though. Overall it was not worth the money and I wish we just didn’t even go out to eat there at all. We’ve eaten at many fine dining restaurants and seek out food adventures whenever we travel. This meal missed the mark and I’d rather have just left without ordering. A refund would be the best restitution as this last dinner left a bad taste in my mouth from the fishy calamari and the overall experience. RIP Vacation.
