My husband and I had breakfast and dinner here for 4 days. Food was tasty and had a GREAT variety. Coffee was good for breakfast with lots of options. Dinner was also good with lots of options. Dinner had a fair price of $34 , all you can eat, drinks and dessert. I recommend this buffet!!

Both the dinner and the breakfast buffets are overpriced. Not much choice, appearance of buffet not attractive, and food was so-so. The other restaurant (Kind Last Words) seems very nice, but their main dishes are priced at $50 and above, so this is no alternative for normal people. The shop is also very expensive, so self-catering is also no real option. Overall, you are at Death Valley and need to take what’s there. And apparently the owners of this restaurant know it too. 😉

So, we read all the reviews and were super hesitant, but we just didn’t want to drop the money of the Kind Words Saloon. So, we asked to see what was on the buffet for lunch and ended up eating the buffet. The salad portion was great! All the basic stuff, plus chick peas, nuts, dried fruit. The fresh fruit was amazing! The dessert options were great! The main dish choices were limited.

We’re here for dinner. Really good food and okey-ish price ($29 per person, all you can eat, non-alcoholic drinks included) for being in the middle of the desert. Good flavors and the „pot roast beef“ was just finger lickin‘ good! Great salad options, soups and fried chicken. Also loved the fries combined with the cheese sauce.

People need to have a realistic expectation for National park restaurants. I like their briskets, cupcakes, and apple pies. Exactly what we need after a long day. Only $76 for two adults. Other restaurants in the resort are charging $20 for just a small salad.

Our charge for two was $73.27 for some old cold poorly cooked food. I would suggest going to the general store and pick something packaged up.

This was perhaps my worst and most expensive dining experience at a national park. “Dinner” was limited salad bar, cottage cheese, horrible nachos, baked spaghetti that sat so long in the tray it was crispy, and some terrible asian buffet concoction. Breakfast wasn’t any better, but I guess they don’t care since you’re locked into either this or the limited options at the general store. And the price was way out of line. 3-4 star price point for 1/2 star (at best) meals. I’ve learned it’s better to drive the 30 minutes to Stovepipe and eat at the restaurant there. It’s 1000x better and reasonably priced. With staff so friendly it makes the Xanterra 1849 Staff look like ogres.

Excellent steak ribeye and whisky, with a country Western atmosphere.

A very dismal buffet. The food choices are extremely limited and poorly cooked. The staff does not update the food dishes or replace the coffee until they are hunted down. If you get the room with the free buffet, go for it. Otherwise, steer clear like most of the reviews say.
