We chose Preston House Restaurant because it is definitely the high-end hot spot here in Riverhead. Good price to quality ratio. We sat outside with my dog, which was great. The wine menu is well put together and thought out. Every bottle is a good bottle to order with some unique stuff. The summer food menu is enticing. Seafood a plenty. Freshly caught in Montauk fish dishes are the stars here, though my wife’s skirt steak was perfect. Tender, melt in your mouth delicious. The quality was there. The freshness of the fluke crudo was firmly present. Taste like they pulled it from the sea today. Soft texture of the fish balanced with crispy puffs and sitting in a citrus liquid. Presentation was just as good as the flavor. Herb crusted tuna was cooked rare (as I should) was fork tender. The herbaceous flavor burst in your mouth but didn’t take over the dish, allowing the fish to shine. The tuna combined with the miso braised red cabbage created a beautiful mouth feel. The ginger-carrot puree was smooth and flavorful. Kids liked the real bechemel Mac and cheese. Made me happy when my daughter said she liked this better than Kraft. I apologize that I didn’t take pictures of the desserts. The creme brulee cheesecake was outstanding. Dense, creamy cheesecake with a creme brulee hard shell. Some of the best cheesecake I have ever had. Gelato and chocolate cake were great also. An ounce of Glenmorangie Lasanta topped it all off for me. What a great meal! Provided by our server, Steve, who was attentive, not overwhelming and helpful. Hope to see you there when I go back. Cheers!

Five good friends got together for dinner at The Preston House. Three of us had already dined there and the others were trying it for the first time. Luckily, we were able to get a table in a private spot on the covered porch. Despite the cold outside the area was nice and warm. We had cocktails, appetizers, a big salad to share and individual dinners. Everyone enjoyed their meals and went home with lunch for the next day. Nicely prepared food served by excellent staff. Steve was our waiter and was assisted by two coworkers. I have to say they really added value to our evening! Accommodating with good senses of humor. Makes me think this is probably a good place to work. And that has become increasingly important to me, as my daughter is studying culinary arts at Johnson and Wales! We will definitely be returning soon as this is the perfect location for those living on the north fork to get together with friends from the south fork!

We did the brunch today and it was fabulous. We shared oysters from the west coast, which we never see out here! Perfectly shucked! Husband did the avocado toast with salmon, and I did the eggs Benedict with ham(not your typical english muffin, i think it was home made with love!). Both were excellently executed. Chef is on his game!!

The atmosphere was very nice and clean very modern which was nice it wasn’t that crowded it was nice and mellow at the time we were there (1:30pm ish 3adults 2 toddler ) the hostess was busy on the phone didn’t try to acknowledge (that’s why there is only four stars)but the bartender stepped over appreciated that since we had too kids. The menu was kinda all together so at first glance you can’t see it properly

Putting aside the architectural monstrosity that is the hotel out back, the restaurant in the original house is lovely. Service was very attentive. The menu seemed to reflect a conservative, corporate idea of what East End dining should be to appeal to hotel guests. Still, the ingredients were fresh and the food was tasty.

I took my wife out to dinner here for our first Valentine’s Day as a married couple. It was an incredibly disappointing experience and not even close to worth the money. The drinks were watered down. The oyster sliders gave me food poisoning. The pork belly was great, but was paired with feta and polenta, which was the consistency of overcooked scrambled eggs. My wife had the duck sausage tortellini, which was missing the pesto that the menu described. We asked the waitress for the pesto and she brought what was essentially olive oil with a dash of herbs in it. The pasta was dry and overcooked and the filling was crumbly and dry. Never going back and would love to get my money back.
