Food was delicious! Green beans were well seasoned, boneless fried chicken breasts were moist and flavorful, deviled eggs with relish was a great starter. Had banana pudding for dessert, amazing! Our server was attentive and gave great customer service!

They started us off with a basket of hush puppies and biscuits which were tasty. I had the chopped barbecue sandwich with the sweet potato casserole. The meat was tasty but the sauce option on the table mostly tasted like vinegar and wasn’t flavorful. The sweet potato was delicious.

The Pit Authentic Barbecue is a truly great bbq restaurant with amazing variety of dishes and delicious cocktails. It’s a great place to dine in for families and everybody else. The food we ordered was well seasoned and for the seafood lovers like me – I must admit that is the only restaurant that I got big portion of grilled to perfection shrimps! Yum! Therefore, if your are in the City and wonder where to dine, I strongly recommend this restaurant. Enjoy!!

Excellent food and service. Ike was super welcoming and Shay created a drink just for me! Really looking forward to coming back here and bringing my family. The sweet-potatoes were definitely the best I’ve ever had. This is a must visit in the Raleigh area. True NC BBQ in a open and airy environment. Soooooo good! You haven’t had NC BBQ if you haven’t had The Pit.

The inside seems more like an old steak house than a BBQ joint (if that makes a difference to you when going to have bbq), and the food was just ok. The service was very friendly but a little slow at times. By far the best thing we ate were the biscuits. The hush puppies were pretty good too. The ribs were as opposite to ‘fall of the bone’ as you could get. So tough. The beans were undercooked (read: hard) but the flavor was good. Potato salad was good. Brisket was terrible and nothing resembling brisket. Pulled pork was moist. Vinegar sauce was impossible to get out of the bottle on the table because you can’t shake it and all the flavor is at the bottom so you just get straight vinegar. Overall it was a lackluster experience.

Excellent service, Thx Ty. Cozy, relaxing atmosphere. Start you with biscuits & hush puppies, which were fresh & tasty. Had the fried catfish with mashed potatoes & fried okra. Nice meal. Wife had the half rack of baby backs with green beans & Mac n cheese. Ribs were dry and tasteless, Mac n cheese as well. Expected much better.

✊ Pretty good food. Chopped barbecue isn’t consistent from day to day, so it’s hard to know what you’ll get. Spicier, drier, etc. Collards could use a little salt. Otherwise good food. You have to know what to order though. Collards, sweet potato casserole, chopped barbecue, and everything that comes in the pit sampler (except pimento cheese balls) are some of my favorites. Mac and cheese is good depending on the day & who makes it.

Southern Hospitality at its finest! Great food, amazing atmosphere, and personalized touches from the manager and staff to make you feel right at home. The guided tour was lovely, and everyone was super friendly. The meat melts in the best way, and the sides all hit perfectly. The hushpuppies and biscuits were a true delight. Best biscuits I’ve had in a long, long time. Call ahead because it gets busy! Will definitely be making a trip for The Pit again this summer.

Honestly the best North Carolina BBQ I have had. Tender juicy pull-apart pulled pork meets a savory meat patty with lettuce, tomato; onion rings and pimento cheese. A side of Mac and cheese tops it off. You want 12 hours of smoked meat, look no further.
