We were promptly seated wife and I had mushroom appetizer very good, it came.out hot and yummy. My wife had the mushroom chicken with garlic mash potatoes, a little heavy with the sauce. I had the New Zealand rack of lamb. The lamb was supposed to be medium but came out a little charred. Over all meal was good. Ordered a full rack but delivered a half rack and rightly charged. Stephanie apologized but no worries all was good. Thank you Pines for a great date night

With the exception of the prime rib, which was excellent, our food was laughably bad. The shrimp pasta was a bucket of angel hair with four shrimp, and the salad was lettuce with three pine nuts, one slice of radish, and one slice of carrot. The veggies tasted like carrots out of an Albertsons bag that someone had waved over warm water.

I had hope for this place, but not worth the prices they charge AT ALL. The food was not great. I ordered a ribeye medium rare, it came out nearly rare with no flavor (almost like they never seasoned it), no char on the outside and I could barely cut through it with the cheap, IKEA-like steak knife they provided. So weird for an almost rare steak. It was tough and chewy, not like ribeyes I’m used to eating. Their peppercorn sauce was good, but it was cold and in turn made my steak cold. I ate a few bites and that was that. Such a waste of $43. The garlic mashed potatoes were decent. The French onion soup was ok, they put some Italian herb seasoning in it which was strange. The wine pours aren’t proper, but who’s complaining? They give you a large pour. The server was distracted the whole time we were there and they weren’t busy at all. He forgot our waters and seemed like he didn’t really have an interest in being there or serving us. He also forgot to bring the check to the people next to us so they had to get up to bring it to him. The view from the patio is nice, but the restaurant is located at the end of a dead end street that has a rundown trailer park. We encountered a shouting homeless woman who appeared to be on drugs while sitting near the dock watching the sunset after our meal so we left. We spent $150 for 2 people at this place and it wasn’t worth anywhere near that. Would not recommend.

After some of the crazy wait times we had over the weekend in the village, we decided to come here on Sunday evening around 6:45. The restaurant is located on a beach along the lake. There were a number of dinner parties enjoying their food. We were seated promptly and an employee brought a high chair over for our 9-month old. A basket of delicious ciabatta bread arrived accompanied by house churned herb butter. Our friendly server, Jake, took our drink and food order. We had the New York steak dinner and the prime rib dinner. Our house salads arrived first. Our dinner plates arrived and the food was hot and plated with care. The prime rib was tender and juicy and served with a delicious horseradish sauce. The New York steak was juicy and served with a peppercorn sauce. A gentleman named Jerry arrived to give our daughter a stuffed animal and made sure we were enjoying our meal. The staff was attentive and friendly. This was the best meal I’ve ever had in Big Bear and we will surely be back.

Kind and accommodating staff. The Pines hosted our wedding dinner when many other restaurants in Big Bear declined due to staffing issues. Food, service, and patio seating were great. We loved continuing our wedding celebration with The Pines, thank you for the memories.

Fantastic family dining experience! Best Chicken Marsala I have ever tasted. Hubby’s ribs were falling off the bone and so yummy we all had to taste it. The New York steak was perfect and oh those mashed potatoes! We all enjoyed the bread and butter served before our meal and the kids’ portions were very generous with real ice cream treats for dessert included. The sunset hour from their patio was spectacular! We can’t wait to go back!

The food was very good. The atmosphere was very nice. Except for one good teenager, the servers and probably the owner or whoever hires people seriously need to attend major training–starting with the rudimentary basics–on how to treat guests who come to a restaurant of this price.

Great place for breakfast. Ordered the rib eye and eggs. My steak was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked medium rare. Tender and juicy. We dined outside. Wish it was closer to the lake but it’s a short 100 yards maybe to the shoreline. The wait staff were all very friendly

Inside for dinner is great, outside for weekend breakfast not so great. Servers to outside patio seem rushed and practically throw things on the table and rush back into the restaurant. We’ve been there for patio breakfast many times and it’s always like this. The food is excellent but we always have to go into the restaurant to ask for steak sauce, salt and pepper, more water, etc.
