Very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere with an interesting and diverse menu. The food was delicious. I especially loved the stuffed mushrooms. The shrimp and grits were wonderful!

A pleasant surprise! Lovely dining experience overall. Stopped by late on a Saturday night with a few friends and ordered some drinks and entrees. The atmosphere was classy, loved the decor/vibe. Waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Food didn’t come fast or slow, was perfect for an extended night with good company.

We went here for our anniversary, because I wanted a new, fun place to celebrate. I was quite looking forward to it. First, let me say the food and drinks were very good, and the staff efficient and friendly. But, i had read an article that stated this was to be a speakeasy-type place, pickles on the tables for starters, with private room one would be taken to if mentioning “blind pig”. The owner had stated that “Pickle and Pig’s name originatedfrom the homemade pickles that will be a table starter (I was under the impression these would be a free starter on each table; I may have missed it, but I don’t even recall seeing them on the menu at all; I also did not notice any dessert on the menu, but did not ask) and the “blind pig” aspect of the Prohibition, which is what speakeasies were secretly known as.”. No one knew anything about that. Also, the retaurant was sorely lacking in 1920s/prohibition-style decor. The dining area was simply a small room for dining off the bar area, with tables but nothing in the way of prohibition-style ambiance. Not even a white tablecloth. Truthfully, all of this is what I was looking for, but did not get. There were also to be rooms dedicated to and named after the Clue board game: study, library, and so forth. Again, nothing of the kind. While we had a good meal and well-made drinks and an enjoyable time with our adult children, we could have had that anywhere. I would go back again IF the atmosphere was truly upped a notch, and as advertised. I gave 4 stars because the experience was good enough for 3 1/2, but not poor enough for 3.

We were so excited to try this! The location, atmosphere and decor get 5 stars! However the food was an unexpected disappointment. I ordered The Gnome & The Mushroom (prologue) which was just ok, and The Southern Gump (Chapter) which had very little meat and a whole lot of grits and oil. Both were a mis for us. The food was unnecessarily spicy and the portion was on the small side for the price.

Didn’t have pickles? Chef Didn’t like the sauce that came with one of the dishes so just served it without any.. chicken and waffles should be renamed Chickens and Waffle (the Chicken to Waffle, yes it is served with one waffle, ratio is off , But both were cooked and tasted well……Overall decent experience…

Went on a Tuesday night. The hotel next door offered a coupon for a free appetizer of fries. The bar service was ok, and they were training a new employee so I’m taking that into consideration. The food was just ok, the brownie desert was burned and everything was pretty average. Not something I’d recommend and not a place I’d return to for the price. Lower the price and it would be in the ballpark of where it needs to be. If you’re going to keep your prices high, better food, drinks, and service need to be offered.

My wife & I stopped in for dinner last night to check out Oxford’s newest dining experience. The Pickle & Pig. We have been needing a restaurant like this in Oxford for a long time. This is not a restaurant aimed at the college market. Instead, it’s menu & services are aimed at adults who want a pleasant dining experience & parents of college students.

Really cool place and super upscale for Oxford. The service is okay, you’ll definitely wait but it won’t be excruciating. Definitely get a reservation- otherwise you’ll wait (we walked in once and put our name in- they called us to tell us our table is open and once we got there which was prob 5 min they had already given it away). The duck fat fries are amazing. Definitely get those- I have dreams about those. Besides that though the food is good and a cool place to go with your parents but you’ll definitely find better. Not many vegetarian options unfortunately either. Their staff also kinda does some funny stuff, one time we went and instead of telling us their were out of something they just gave us an entirely different item and when we asked them about it they told us what happened. They should have asked us what we wanted instead but they just made a decision for us. The speakeasy is cool and it’s worth checking out once but it’s not an enjoyable eating experience.
