Came into reading for a show at the arts theater. Parking is available right next door. It was our first time at the peanut bar restaurant and it was very warm and welcoming. We made reservations in advance for 5:30. We arrived and we’re seated promptly. Restaurant has spacious seating for two people up to and including multiple families. Nice drink and food menu. We happen to be there on a jazz night which was very pleasant while we dined. Food and drinks came out quick once we ordered. Crab cake had a wonderful garlic sauce, veggies were crisp and flavorful. Bacon burger was cooked to my liking, with lots of bacon on top. Huge dill pickle came with my meal. The whole place was an absolute gem. Will definitely be coming back!!

Cool bar and atmosphere. I narrowed my choices down to what the menu said was a French dip with shaved prime rib or the fish and chips that used cod. I was verifying this with the bartender and he said the French dip had roast beef and not sliced prime rib. I also discovered that the fish was haddock and not cod. I decided to go with fish and chips and it was terrible. The breading was very mushy and at lease one of the haddock pieces was not edible (I think it was the spine). Service was very good just very disappointed in the food I received and the fact that the menu did not accurately reflect the product.

Cute bar that’s been around for almost 100 years. Nice atmosphere and service. The chocolate covered pretzel pie is amazing.

One Warm Welcome…not from the area, found this place open on a Monday night. I had no idea of its history or anything about the place. A timeless feel to the interior, warm wood character & 50s charm, I could feel this place had a lot of history but didn’t realize a Reading PA celebrated legend. The bartender/owner & my Server we’re kind, accommodating and very informative…a slower night. Served up with their menu with a narrative on the history of the establishment “in a nutshell”. The menu offered a nice variety from Seafood, Italian, German, Steaks, Burgers and much more. Seems like a Hot Spot with plenty going on, warm vibes, great peeps & good food to serve up for generations to come!

One of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We came for a graduation celebration and were greeted with custom menus with the graduate’s name. Sabrina brought such a sense of joy and passion to our table, and her recommendations were spot on for every course.

We came in for dinner last week and enjoyed ourselves. Very unique vibe with peanuts on every table. We got cheeseburgers and were satisfied. Just good old fashioned food, nothing fancy. FANTASTIC service, though. Natalie is a wonderful waitress.

Our 1st visit tonight, we will be back. Fantastic service, thoughtful and attentive especially for my adult special needs son. Love the history on the walls and the photo montage of vintage Reading on TV. We all enjoyed our meals.

The Peanut Bar has been operating at his location since 1935 and I can see why it has lasted. Great food, superb service and great character. Don’t be put off by the windowless frontage, it is well work coming in and taking a seat at a table covered in a traditional checkered cloth and enjoying a mix of old style and modern dishes.

Went to the Peanut Bar for my birthday celebration. The atmosphere is inviting (love the twinkle lights in the branches on the ceiling). The food was delicious. I had the crab cakes with broccoli and baked potato. The crab cake was cooked to perfection with a lemony hollandaise sauce, and the sides were excellent as well. It came with a good sized salad which was yummy, too. All in all, the meal was memorable and we will definitely return to the Peanut Bar!
