I recently dined at The Peak on Salem in Apex NC during the town’s first annual restaurant week, where my partner and I celebrated our anniversary. Our overall experience was wonderful, from the service to the food.

Our mid week travel date finds us strolling along the street in Historic Apex. After browsing multiple specialty shops, we stopped in for lunch at The Peak on Salem. We were the beginning of the lunch crowd so were were seated promptly, menus in hand within minutes with sweet tea for refreshment. I ordered The Peak Loaf, noted on the menu as Painted Hills Ground Chuck Meatloaf, Haricot Verts, Mashed Potatoes, and Mushroom Gravy. The meatloaf was cooked to perfection and not overloaded with spices as I have found at other places. The verts were also properly cooked, very tasty. The mushroom gravy was excellent with the mushrooms having a nice texture. My wife enjoyed the B.L.T.A (without the “A”, avocado, not her thing!) with the Mixed Greens Salad as the side. She mentioned everything seemed so fresh and tasted great. I thought even the sweet tea had a bold, fresh taste. I really like the thorough descriptions provided on the menu. Overall a great experience at this restaurant. And I can’t wait to go back and get the Shrimp and Grits.

My best friend and I had dinner here while we were checking out downtown. Service was great, our questions were answered with ease and our server had excellent recommendations. I can’t say enough about the Shrimp & Grits, some of the best I’ve ever had. The Wedge Salad was great too. The atmosphere is cozy and it’s a great spot for a nice dinner. Will be back to try different dishes.

We went during restaurant week and had a great experience with Adam as our server! The food was really good (loved the Brussel sprouts) but it is on the pricier side. Definitely recommend giving it a shot though!

My husband and I grabbed lunch here today while shopping downtown Apex. The blue cheese chips are so delicious and kinda unique with the pepper jelly twist. He had a yummy French dip sandwich, tender and tasty and I ordered a Caesar salad with salmon. The service was fast and friendly! The only thing keeping it from a 5 star review was the uncomfortable seating. Wooden bench seats with arm makes it tricky getting in and out of. They do have another section of the restaurant with upholstered seating, hopefully more comfortable, that we will request when we go back again. It has a rustic feel with brick walls and wooden floors and furniture.

We were a party of 8, sat in a private room, had excellent service, everyone’s dish was 13/10 so what can you say.. it’s 5 star for sure! Give them a try.

We had a party of eight last night in the private dining area. Our server Nick was amazing! He was right on top of our needs and very friendly. Also had good recommendations. Food was great. We ordered appetizers to share: conch fritters (outstanding), brussel sprouts, cauliflower, charcuterie board (really good). Then dinner but many of us chose appetizers or salads. Dinner prices are quite high, $30 and up mostly. And not one vegetarian choice on the dinner menu.

My new Favorite place to visit regularly, Hands Down!!!! The atmosphere is awesome, and the food and drinks are some of the best around, not to mention how awesome the staff is.

A bit pricey for what you get. My order included only 2 grilled chicken Ceasar salads and 2 drinks and my bill was $79. Also, they add a $3.00 fee to your bill for paying by card instead of cash. Salad was average. This is not a place I’d run to revisit.

The Peak on Salem had been our favorite local restaurant to celebrate special occasions or just because we wanted a nice meal. We made a reservation to celebrate our 38th anniversary last night, we were seated outside on the patio because it was a beautiful evening. And that’s where the good feelings ended. We had the misfortune to be assigned a really, really bad waiter that basically colored the evening. Guzman had literally no skin in the game. With zero personality, and a bored and disinterested attitude, it was apparent he could have cared less if we ordered anything or didn’t, he did not offer any information on the menu items unless we pulled it out of him. We would have ordered more wine, but since it was never asked, and it appeared that if we asked him for anything he became even more unpleasant. When dessert was not offered, we decided to move on down the street to other restaurants that wanted our business. I understand finding employees is a challenge right now but we observed tables around us that had engaging friendly wait staff. We will find other special occasions restaurants in the future.
