Brian McDermott had a passion for working in restaurants and The Original Pancake House was a perfect fit. After years of experience in the industry, he realized he wanted an Original Pancake House of his own. In 1986, Brian McDermott brought the breakfast franchise to Indianapolis, Indiana. Many of the items listed on our Kid’s Menu reference the historic train station. Since 1996, The Original Pancake House in Indianapolis has been closed, but Brian and his family have worked hard to keep their locations (Indianapolis, Fishers and Noblesville) running smoothly. His wife Charlene, daughter Colleen and son Andrew are devoted to keeping The Original Pancake House a part of Indianapolis’s history and your favorite breakfast restaurant!

Excellent food, you won’t leave there hungry. Interesting items on the menu their signature pancake is worth checking out, it tastes more like a crepe than pancake, plenty of eggs used to make it. I believe it’s called a dutch baby.. Baked omelettes are huge.

Amazing food. I have had pancakes at many places but this one charts its own taste course. Pancakes were not sweet itself but combined with maple syrup and fresh chunk of butter gave your taste buds something to celebrate. Pecan French toasts were delicious. The oven backed veggie omelette was loaded with veggies and cheese. And it was huge. Great place to have brunch or breakfast.

Food was mediocre, yet overpriced. Dutch baby pancake was too greasy and potato pancakes tasted like bacon or some other animal grease. Gross! Service too slow. Servers were just sitting around and socializing while the food took upwards of 35 mins to be delivered to our table! Last time ever, at least at this location!

Horrible experience. Coffee was room temperature and there was what we assumed was a roach floating in my mom’s orange juice. We wanted it taken off our tab, but the manager just apologized and got her a new glass. As if we were going to keep drinking that orange juice? That’s not the kind of protein we asked for!

This place must have new owners/management because the food quality has declined significantly.

Not bad, but always very busy. Coffee is never hot enough and the food is ok. I’ve had much better breakfasts. Staff are friendly and efficient.

The pancakes were fresh and delicious. I will definitely go again. All of the compotes are made fresh in house and are amazing.

Friends took us here when we were visiting the area. We love a good breakfast restaurant, and this one had a wider and more unique menu.
