30 Years ago Jim and Melissa Palermo started The Broken Egg on Siesta Key at the original Avenida Messina site it was small but a true Sarasota gem. Moved down the street to a larger store, then Jim and Mel did some fantastic school lunches at The Out of Door Academy on siesta key as well where there kids went to school. Then there was The Serving Spoon on Osprey Ave and that only flourished. The Palermo’s family was also expanding. They had Edward and then Jim got the itch again and decided to take us up to Vermont for 9 long cold years, but Jim’s family was up there so it was well worth the cold for the amazing connections that were made that are lifelong. Funny thing is the amount of people in Vermont who visit our little beach town and

Such a delightful breakfast spot! Super laid back and absolutely delicious. I had the Bear Creek Sampler and substituted for chicken apple sausage. It was fabulous. The coffee was delicious too. Great menu choices. And the bathroom was immaculate! Always a good sign. On our way out, we bought half a carrot cake and two loaves of just out of the oven banana bread. Both wonderful. I wanted to try everyone of their cookies ha! I highly recommend this cafe and can’t wait to return.

Pricey place. Omelet was good potatoes (home fries) could have more and cooked more. Coffee was good. Service was great food in a timely manner. I wouldn’t rave about the place. I will try it again if in the area.

This is a true gem of a neighborhood cafe. The food is excellent and the menu is always changing with creative daily specials. The bakery items are made on site and all of the offering are fresh and delicious. This cute little cafe is always packed year round, so clearly the locals know a good thing when they find it!

Best omelette I’ve had for a very very long time. Great little spot. Fresh ingredients, pleasing presentation, quick service. Good value for money. Feels homely and favorite of locals! I will absolutely come back next time I’m the area.

I went with my grandmother this morning for brunch and it was so yummy. Great menu options and the food is prepared, home-cooked style. Rustic, tasty, not too salty and just perfect for a meal after coming off the beach.

Can’t get enough of the Oasis Cafe. Family owned business that makes you feel like you walked into their home and sat down at their table. Order the incredible potatoes as soon as you walk in, they are insanity. Baked goods you can smell from the parking lot, homemade EVERYTHING, specials every day, huevos rancheros is my favorite! The kids loved the silver dollar chocolate chip pancakes and the cheesy grits. Just go! You’ll thank me for the referral I promise and you’ll become a regular! Love this place!
