The National Menu – Athens, GA

Type : Fine dining restaurant

Location : Athens, GA

We offer interior seating in our dining room and bar as well as outside seating on our covered patio and parklet.
The idea behind The National is simple:
to provide a casual neighborhood gathering spot reminiscent of the bars and cafés we’ve enjoyed on travels to Europe. Mediterranean inspired food and wine is served for lunch and dinner in the dining room and throughout the day at the bar. While our menu points to culinary traditions from abroad, we value our local farmers and our dishes reflect the changing seasons in Northeast Georgia.

Reservations are available via Resy.

Mediterranean-style dishes created with seasonal, Southern influences, plus an extensive wine list. Based on 457 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.6 stars. Price $$$

Overall pretty good. Kinda on the pricey side, but you get a lot of food for what you pay for so it’s worth it if you look at it from that perspective.

Shauna Birkett
I had my bachelorette dinner here and it was amazing! Lucy called to confirm our reservation, took our group photo outside the restaurant, gave us bar recs, and even helped one of my friends who couldn’t make it pay for my dinner over the phone! The food was amazing (friend eggplant was to die for) and the ambiance at dusk was magical. I can’t recommend this place enough for a special occasion.

This was a beautiful and chill place. Tip: Look for the blue and white building. The restaurant sign was hard to read from the street. The menu was small but had enough options for our guests. Everything we tried was delicious and did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and attentive. I recommend this place for a special occasion, meet up with family or friends, and if you are visiting the area.

WOW.

First visit at this lovely restaurant. Delightful service and ambiance. Not much options for vegetarians, but the chef was able to prepare the dishes as per our preference. Vegetable plate, pizzette with no cheese, hummus with pita and vegetables. Everything was delicious. Loved the pizzette. Vegetable plate included Okra, melon, zucchini, eggplant, chickpeas with corn and rice. It was enough for 2 ppl. And to end the amazing meal with Raspberry vegan ice cream. Highly recommend

✅ Food: Their menu changes frequently and on that day it was filled with all fancy-sounding dishes. The food was great and well-presented. I have to emphasize that the food was five stars! The two stars were taken out because of the service and atmosphere. See below.

Benjamin Powell
Good food but nothing outstanding. Limited Mediterranean dishes. Pork chop and flounder were cooked well but the dishes fell flat with soggy potato skins and odd pork rinds on top. Service was great but the kitchen put food out in a leisurely pace.

We don’t eat gluten and enjoyed our meal here! There was thoughtful exchanges to make our meal safe for us to enjoy and it was really delicious! They even have gluten-free flatbread for the hummus plate and to replace their baguettes. Thanks The National!!

Vin Dom
Great dining experience. The waiting is not excruciating. The price is right and the food is delicious.

Dominique White
I can see why this place was so highly recommended. The cleanliness, staff , atmosphere. My husband and I shared an amazing experience here. The food was fresh and seasoned to perfection. Only downfall was that dessert was nothing to write home about. I love desserts so that was hard for me. It was not nasty or anything but something you could easily buy at store. Regardless of that, I’d absolutely go back!
