Matchbox Cafe is small and nothing fancy… But the burger was excellent! The staff was very friendly. They are also know for their desserts. I didn’t have dessert, but they did look delicious! Maybe the next time I’m there!

Great little cafe. Super cozy inside, nice little outdoor area eating area as well (all though there is some traffic noise)

Didn’t get a chance to experience the food. We drive an hour and a half to get there. Restaurant was empty except for one patron. Asked to use their restroom and was told you have to order and pay first because the restrooms were for paying customers only. Their policy was repeated by the gentleman (perhaps the other owner) behind the counter, albeit a bit more politely. Which would be understandable except it’s sometimes difficult to wait. Nevertheless tried to convince the lady (perhaps the owner) that we were indeed staying and ordering evidenced by calling half an hour ahead, but were refused the use of their bathroom bra cause so many people had not ordered in the past. On principle we left. Rhinebeck is abundant with great restaurants with far better attitude, which ultimately is part of any dining experience. After all customers are paying and thus deserve reasonable respect and accommodations.

Small precious cottage on the side of the road. Maybe 4-5 tables inside but it’s a homey adorable little space. Our interaction was with a sweet man at the counter. Sure it’s $21 for a veggie burger – but it’s homemade, delicious, and supporting a small local business. We ate outside and although the outdoor seating is right next to a semi busy 2 lane road, we aren’t fussy and we were just grateful for the summer weather in April, sweet service, and great food!

Burger was good but the lady at the counter (black rimmed glasses) was very rude. As paying customers we asked if she could refill my refillable water bottle and she refused but pointed to the bathroom. When my husband then tried to buy water she told him no because he only had card and there was an arbitrary card minimum. This is after we already paid and ate. Not how you treat paying customers so won’t be returning. Her book was featured on the counter- I bet it’s not that good.

As soon as you pull up to this quaint little spot, you know it’s going to be good. Whether you were tipped off by the usually packed parking lot, or the incredible meaty smell emanating from the most adorable cottage, you’re probably going to start salivating by the time you reach the door. Inside is just as you’d expect – simple, yet filled with comforting local goodies in a warm and rustic setting. Outside there are several different choices for seating with flowers and shrubs lining the perimeter for some privacy.

This was a lovely , little local place. The owners work there every day and were a pleasure to talk to. It is a little expensive but the food quality is good. It was small but there was indoor and outdoor seating. It is decorated rustically and was very homey, warm and inviting. The brownie that we got for a snack was amazing!

Very horrible experience. Cashier was very rude and difficult. Had a hard time paying for the order because the cashier kept questioning me while trying to pay because he didn’t believe I was baby sitting the kids that were with me. I felt very racially profiled because I was trying to pay for their order but he only felt comfortable talking to the kids and not me even though I was polite.

What a sleeper/knock it out of the park pleasure this place is. Just south of Rhinebeck on rt 9. Tiny, and I mean minuscule. Comfort food on a paper plate,as their slogan goes. Nothing fancy, nor extravagant, yet good flavor, adequate portions with really friendly service and attention. Good food, good desserts, good deal.
