This was our first time dinning at the Manitou and it will not be the last. Very casual feeling restaurant. Good seafood and drinks. My wife and I both had the Trawler. It’s a delicious combination of broiled whitefish, crab stuffing, U10 Scallops, and 16/20 Shrimp with house veg. dinner salad and rolls. They cooked it all perfectly, I was very surprised and delighted.

We ate at your restaurant a couple days ago during a busy Thursday evening. We got seated at 8:45. It was well worth the 45 minute wait! The food and service were outstanding! I loved the side spinach salad that came with my perch. The perch was amazing. Two others ordered walleye and loved it and the coconut shrimp was great too. We will be back and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Maybe I had this built up to much in my head about how many people had told me that yellow perch was fantastic. Tonight was my first experience and I was extremely disappointed. The breading around some of the fish pieces was so greasy and soggy and the fish just did not have much taste. The salad was fantastic. My wife got the chicken breast sandwich and said that it and her fries was fantastic. My baked potato was extremely small but tasted fine. Just another personal preference is that when you order a baked potato with butter, sour cream and chives is that it comes to you with that on it. I received the potato with little packs of butter that had to be opened. Maybe 6 of them. Sour cream in a plastic cup and no chives at all. For $31 for the fish plate I just expected better. I would try this place again. Just not the yellow perch.

Made reservations three weeks in advance for 12 for a special staff dinner. Showed up and they had us set up for 10 at a table big enough for 7. Said we would have to split up but would be 20 minutes for the other 5! After offering to sit outside it worked out. Asked for a manager to connect with who never came and had a conversation :(. Food was very good though.

Great local restaurant- and don’t let the smallish looking exterior fool you, there is plenty of room inside and in the summer, outdoor seating. The food for my family of six was delicious and the staff was great even though it was very busy when we were there. The parking situation is terrible though, they really need to add many parking spots so you don’t have to park along the street. Other than that, it’s a wonderful place.

Some of THE BEST food we have eaten in quite sometime. The New England ClamWin Chowder is to die for. AuGratin potatoes were superb and my Ribeye steak was grilled to perfection. My parents each had seafood meals and my cousin had the Walleye. Nobody had food left on their plates and 3 of us had dessert! Amazing food and we will return when we visit my cousin and his family in Empire next summer!!!!

Got lucky and scored a reservation for the next day, when we tried to just show up for dinner. Just so happened I ate there on their busiest day ever! Wait staff is pleasant and helpful, kitchen is gifted, even if they can get emotional. (We heard rumors of their exasperation with the relentless pace of a busy day/night.) Overall it was really excellent food. Two of us had the duck and it was some of the best I’ve ever had, juicy, crispy, flavorful. I subtracted one point only for the outdoor dining experience. It needs to be more bug-resistant, maybe a netted tent? A meal here is a must if you are in this area of Michigan. Highly Recommended!
