For $10 I got a small coffee with grounds in it and two freezer biscuits with less than a spoonful of canned or bagged (definitely not homemade) gravy. The grounds wasn’t the biggest problem my biggest problem is the quality and quantity of the food I ordered. You’re a small town local business that food should be plenty and delicious. I was told the owner makes the food (where???) then brings it in.

My husband and I were enjoying a Sunday stroll in Franklin yesterday and decided an afternoon coffee was needed. We stopped in what looked like a quaint local coffee shop from the outside with tables and chairs outdoors and in. The indoor area smelled greasy…there were about 6 to 8 young people behind the counter and standing around towards the back of the place. Not one of them looked as if they even remotely wanted to greet a customer let alone wait on them. Very unwelcoming.

We try to support local restaurants. We were so disappointed with our food experience. My spouse ordered the grilled chicken salad $11.99 and I ordered the Philly Steak and cheese with an upgrade to a side salad.

Honestly, don’t bother. I ordered a cortado, the barista had to find it on the menu because they didn’t know if they carried it, then was asked “what size” I responded, how do you make it? usually a cortado is equal parts espresso and milk. To which I got the response, oh we can double it and make it 24 oz. First of all, that doesn’t answer my question. Second of all, what??? How does that help. I asked what kind of hot tea they carry and was met with a blank stare and after a few moments, “we have a chai latte, is that what you mean?” If a coffee shop doesn’t carry tea, that’s fine. But it was a simple question. Then I ordered a breve and asked for Irish cream syrup in it. They had to go check if they even carry it, but which they don’t. But it’s on the menu. I then asked for brown sugar cinnamon flavoring, again they had to check but fortunately they had it.

This is an interesting place to say the least… the food was amazing, the service was quick and the overall atmosphere is pretty good although alittle claustrophobic. The drinks were another thing entirely. The drink menu was on the wall and pretty confusing, I ordered a drink by the picture and was disappointed at how it came out, aswell it didn’t have much flavor. Definitely will be stopping in for meals, but I’m still confused by the drinks.

So, you’re probably reading this review curious to know what the coffee and atmosphere of The Local Grind is like. The coffee itself isn’t too bad, but there is one thing lacking that is so critical to the success of any good coffee shop experience: customer service.

Ordered for delivery biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs. The gravy and eggs had a snot-like texture and the eggs tasted strange and had bits of other food in it probably from the meal that came before it. I also ordered a blended frap and it came completely melted. It was expected to be a little melted but not straight liquid as I am only a short drive away. My spinach dip was substituted to buffalo dip without me okay-ing it (not sure if that’s DoorDash’s fault) and the tortilla chips that came with it were the little round ones. All of this wouldn’t be a big deal if it weren’t for the price being so high.
