All my life I have never ate at The Grove. Not because I didn’t want to but the few times we attempted to it was to busy and we just did not want to wait

I am so happy i found a place that doesn’t serve a mountain worth of food. Great place to have breakfast, absolutely delicious. The french toast was amazing! The eggs and the bacon just melted. I left very happy and i will be back again. This small business needs more support! They are so kind, thank you!!❤️

We LOVED this place. It’s a small town cafe with fantastic food trapped inside a college town. Go earlier than you planned and expect to wait your turn for a table. Don’t be in a hurry. Our breakfast was far better than every other place in town, and we’ve been to nearly all of them. You have to try the pancakes. If you can sit so you can watch them cook it’s a good show. I had the famous pancake, scrambled egg and ham. All cooked to perfection. Of course I only ate about 1/3 of the huge delicious pancake with homemade pancake syrup. Husband ordered ham and cheese omelet with homemade hashbrowns and toast. His food was also delicious. Portion size is perfect for a person of normal appetite, except the huge pancakes. Never mind the building, it’s just very old. Service was excellent, friendly, and fast.

Rude people, asked to sit by the window! There were three of us. She said no you can sit on a table in the corner by kitchen and all you can hear is dishes being washed behind you. She wanted to save the table for a bigger group. She ended it up giving it to three people!

The Grove is an Ames Classic. The short stack of pancakes is all you’d need to eat for a day. The owner is almost always there and is a cool guy that is there if you’d like to speak to him, and the staff are nice friendly folk. A must visit for anyone who wants to know what Ames is like really for real.

Always busy! But so worth the wait!! Totally recommend the rhubarb raspberry pancakes!! I couldn’t finish my plate! I was too full!! Wait staff is never anything but over the top wonderful no matter how busy they are. They keep your coffee cups full, always make time and never forget anything!!

I got the 2 eggs toast hashbrowns with bacon..eggs were perfect over easy. Toast even had butter and was good..hashbrowns were decent. Bacon a little salty but cooked right for me. I had a Pepsi fountain drink that was blah. Looked like Pepsi though. Cash only. Glad I had a few bucks, normally don’t carry much.

Had the tenderloin with sweet potato fries. Very good, and prices are super reasonable. No credit cards accepted, cash or check only. There’s an ATM nearby, just be prepared. My only knock on this place is the location of their restroom which is at the bottom of some sketchy stairs in the basement. Not accessible at all for anyone who’s elderly or handicapped.

Pancakes were super light color and tasted kinda off like chemicals or something didnt taste like they usually do. They also need more options on eatstreet to add extras like chocolate chips or Strawberrys to the pancakes. I’ve eaten this place so many times but today was my first bad experience..
