I had two delicious cocktails and a superb dinner of steak frites. I kept thinking it was just because I hadn’t eaten, but no, it was just that good. The steak was well seasoned and a perfect medium rare the fries could have been crispier, but they were so well seasoned and dipping them in ketchup and the truffle oil was heavenly! I sat at the bar and the bra staff were very attentive, while giving me my space. Excellent!!

Came around 3pm and only a few tables were occupied outside. We sat and it took ~10 min to get water and another ~10 min to order. The food came out in a timely manner and was pretty good. I got the brussel sprouts and texas fried shrimp. The shrimp were plump and cooked well but there was limited sauce. My fiancé got the smash burger and said it was pretty decent. For the price, everything lived up to expectations. For the service, it was slower than we would’ve liked. Good cocktails and beer (it’s berry simple and the austin amber). Almost no vegetarian options, so don’t come here if you want an actual meal.

This is the second time we’ve eaten here. First time was for dinner and everything was great. I’d say maybe the BBQ seasoned fries were just a little over seasoned, but that’s all. The second time was for a nice Valentine’s lunch. Perhaps it was just that it was nice to get out with the wife and the weather was perfect, but I’d say the food was awesome too. She had the Yard Bird (fried) which was really good. I had the Golden Dip since I’m a sucker for French dips. This was one of the better ones I’ve had. Thank you for a pleasant lunch date!

Always a great place to get a cocktail! Food was FANTASTIC! Ordered the pork tenderloin and it was done perfect! Baby carrots were a little overdone, but other than that, a very good meal. Great atmosphere and our server Jet was AWESOME!

Beautiful place, friendly waitress disgusting food. I am a food lover. I can eat almost anything… in this case dog food would have been better. I ordered what sounded like delicious fresh roast, pulled and seeping in gravy and placed on a baguette for dipping in aujus. What I got was roast from a discount store lunch meat isle. It had no flavor and I felt as if it had sat out to dry out overnight. It was placed room temperature on a peice of bread that was soggy from what I could only guess was water as it had no color or flavor. I attempted to try the aujus and it was also completely flavorless. The french fries it was served with were basic and from a bag but they at least had flavor. I thought for a moment that maybe I had covid and that’s why I couldn’t taste anything but I went and got a delicious meal elsewhere after paying for and leaving a full plate on the table at The Golden Rule.

I was so impressed by The Golden Rule. From the decor to the atmosphere to the menu and creative bar offerings – this spot definitely takes it to the next level as far as dining in Georgetown goes. Everything on the appetizer menu was delicious – loved the deviled eggs and the steak against the grain. I really wish they offered the craft cocktail flight during dinner service as it looked really fun to try. I would absolutely recommend making a reservation to make sure you get a table. The only downside was the service could have been a little better. Several items that we ordered were forgotten and our waitress was not very friendly. However, overall I really enjoyed coming here and would love to come back to try brunch. Definitely a great option if you’re looking to eat somewhere on the square.
