I just recently had my engagement party here and it was absolutely wonderful! The staff set the room up perfectly. I was aloud to get there ahead of time to put my center pieces and some personal touches on the tables. The food was hot and delicious. Cooked perfect. The staff made sure to ask me when I wanted the food out and when I wanted the dessert out. Always check in to see if the room was too cold or too hot. They even let us barrow their Bluetooth speakers so we could have background music. My guests and family had so much fun! Thank you again to the staff and owners of The George Inn for adding to this special day!

Talk about a local dive. I stopped here with some chums after the Stairway to Heaven hike this past weekend. They are not from this area and when they asked for post-hike food recommendations a few days earlier, I had to shrug – it’s just not what Sussex is known for, with some very random exceptions. There’s literally only one great restaurant I’ve been to in the entire county (Farmer’s Daughter in Newton – absolute perfection if you’re in the area), and it’s probably 40 minutes away from here. So we came to the George Inn, which…could have been worse.

Restaurant with a taproom/bar attached. Ate in the restaurant area. Had an early dinner, there were not a lot of people in the restaurant, bar had a decent amount of people in it. It is spacious and very clean. Service was excellent and food cooked to perfection. Will go back. Not sure how it would have tured out if they were full. Like everywhere staffing is a problem. Not a large beer selection, however it does have that comfortable quality about it. Will be going back!

We had a buffet dinner for our Rotary Club’s new officer installation here. The buffet was probably one of the best in the area. Everything was prepared very well with a good variety which is not often the case with buffets. The drink server and staff were very attentive.

The Food was good and the portion sizes were pretty large. The ribs and stuffed mushrooms were really good. They have a wide variety of items on the menu. They also have takeout beer and liquor which is convenient. The service was slow at the bar, however the staff were really friendly. They use Old school checks to tracker orders, which mean longer waits to checkout and slower service. I will definitely pay another visit.

The trip to this place was seriously like a Twilight Zone situation. We were trying to book a place in Warwick and couldn’t get reservations so we began to look in the Vernon area. We were staying locally but had very good things about the place we couldn’t get in to. After looking at the possible options in Vernon (and the Hawk’s Nest being closed for whatever reason) we decided to try out the George Inn.

It’s nearby, it’s friendly, the food is good enough. The package store has a nice selection if craft beers. They’re not on tap but you can take them home. This place is a win for a bar that caters to locals.
