Love the Fish filet in General Toas sauce. The fish is so tender, and the flavorful sauce is a perfect match on the dish. Also, like the taste on the shrimp and lobster sauce, this is a dish that you don’t want to judge the book by its cover. Presentation was dull and starchy, but the flavor was good. Brought 2 groups of friends and did a family style dinner. They enjoyed the food so much and left satiated and extremely pleased.

Food was great. Got shrimp lo mein which was excellent as well as the egg drop soup and the other meals my parents were served. Staff was awesome. The owner made good conversation and seemed genuinely interested in talking to his customers. He was a very sweet guy who obviously really enjoyed the company his customers provided. Whenever I come back to West Linn I will definitely drop in to say hello and grab some more food!

The rice was very bland and the chicken needed more flavor. I also think if Tabasco sauce is the go to hot sauce then something is clearly wrong. I will say that the service was good, but more attention needs to be focused on the food.

My family and I went to Essence of China and for my daughter’s 14th birthday lunch. It was awesome! Most everyone had something different but in my opinion the hot and sour soup with General Tso was the best. My wife on the hand loves the Egg Foo Young. It is definitely one of her favorites. Guys all in all it’s a very good Chinese restaurant and worth a taste.

Essence of China is the best Chinese food you’re going to find here locally within a ten mile radius. Seriously, there’s nothing better. Employees are very attentive even when busy, food is always fresh, hot, and delicious. I would highly recommend the potstickers… they’re homemade, not the generic kind you find in most places. Hot tea is always complimentary with your meal. I’d highly recommend the Mongolian Beef!!! That’s my personal favorite. Just do yourself a favor and stop in!! You won’t be disappointed. Pretty sure it’s a family run/local business… which is a bonus!!
