WOW. This is the best place to eat in Winston-Salem, probably the best in North Carolina if im being honest! The portions are generous, the food is cooked fabulously, and the staff are so friendly. Not to mention the best lemon drop martini I have ever had. Is it spendy? Yes. Is it worth it? HELL YES. If only I could come every night. Didn’t wait long for anything. Definitely order the Korean chicken appetizer and the chocolate molten lava cake dessert! Will definitely be back again and again!

First time visiting Downtown Grille and we weren’t disappointed. Beautiful restaurant with a lovely view! Brianna was very attentive and professional. Ribeye was prepared perfectly and melted in your mouth. Crab cake is a large portion and delicious! Nice wine list and craft cocktails. Can’t wait to try something else on the menu.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Went on a Tuesday to celebrate a large milestone for a family member. We brought a 4 year old & weren’t sure how he was going to be received, as some nice restaurants regard children as an imposition. This was not the experience whatsoever. From the moment we walked in, they treated him like a prince, from making special lemonade with lots of maraschino cherries, making special chicken nuggets for him, to the chef personally delivering his ice cream at the end. It was so refreshing for the WHOLE family to be treated as equally important guests. The food was exceptional, although a little slow to come out. Creative pairings you cannot find elsewhere in town. A much needed addition to our downtown. It does cost more than your average, casual dining experience, but is priced fairly for that level of dining experience. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Fancier than I expected from a very quick look at the menu—think white tablecloths brushed down after the bread service. However, although we came in wearing extremely casual clothes after a day of hiking (oops), the host and waiter treated us with friendliness and courtesy, and we never felt rushed or out of place.

What a delightful dining experience! From the sleek ambience to the friendly, efficient service, to the food itself, my birthday dinner was one of the best I’ve ever had. Try the pequillo peppers with roasted corn aioli for a starter, wonderful beginning, I had the Carolina catch of the day, amberjack – highly recommended. All of the staff were great with special kudos to the bartender, John, who made a blood orange infused old fashioned that was memorable and to our server, Brianna, who never missed a beat with describing the menu to perfect timing of each course. I will be back and won’t wait for my next birthday to do so! Thanks to all.

Husband treated me to a birthday dinner. Atmosphere okay. Tables close together, can hear other guest conversations. Staff was nice. Vesper martini tasted watered down. Wrong salad brought to table, waiter offered to fix it but I declined as I didn’t want to inconvenience anyone. So I ate the Caesar salad instead of the citrus salad I ordered. Surf and turf presentation boring, I think lobster was over cooked. They placed our sides at the neighboring guests table, waiter soon realized it and we waited 10 minutes or more before sides came out to eat with our protein. Cherry cheesecake mediocre; Carmel sauce had a weird sharp Burned coffee taste. So in all, we ordered a charcuterie tray, 2 salads, 2 entrees, 2 sides and 1 dessert. over $230 not including tip. Overall experience not worth it. We’ve been to many places that are better: nobles grille-they make the best vesper martini and food is tasty. Even Ryan’s, Ruth Chris would’ve been better. No comps offered/given for mistakes on food delivery and waiter was still tipped accordingly. Best part was being able to dine with husband and converse without kids present. No desire to go back any time soon.

We really enjoyed our first visit to the Downtown Grille. The restaurant has large windows along one whole side of the dining room giving a nice view of the city and setting sun. There is a parking garage less than 1 block away. The tables are dressed in linens and surrounded by soft and comfy leather chairs. The food and service were lovely. We had the oysters and crispy chicken as starters and loved them both. The chicken had great flavor and texture, but the best part of the dish was actually the bed of slaw that it was served on. Had a great crunch and surprising pop of Asian flavors. The oysters were fresh and sweet and had the perfect mignonette. Dinner was lobster tail and and a couple of steaks. All cooked perfectly and full of flavor. No sauces necessary for the steaks, but I’m sure would have also been lovely. The lobster was presented in the tail but had been pre-sliced into perfectly sized pieces to dip in drawn butter and released from the shell so it was really easy to eat and enjoy without getting your hands dirty. The flash fried Brussels had pork cotton candy on top and an excellent mix of spicy and sweet flavors with an added punch of crunch. Loved those. Will try dessert next time!! Highly recommend!! What a great addition to the Winston dining scene.

I generally refrain from leaving negative reviews, as I recognize that unforeseen circumstances can arise in various situations. However, the purpose of this review is to bring attention to the management of Downtown Grill, rather than criticizing the establishment or its service. Tonight, my wife, our two young daughters, and I had a delightful dinner at the restaurant. Subsequently, we were enjoying the pleasant evening outside the establishment, seated on the benches. To our surprise, a member of the building’s security staff abruptly emerged and addressed us in an exceedingly impolite manner, instructing us to vacate the premises. Despite my attempt to explain that we had just dined at the restaurant, it became evident that our explanation held no significance to him. He insisted that we depart immediately, exhibiting a lack of consideration for the fact that we were simply a family, consisting of parents and our 9- and 7-year-old daughters, unwinding after a meal. This incident demonstrated a lack of common sense on the part of the security personnel.

Nice upscale restaurant in Winston Salem with ambience and decent food. Even though it was the first night of opening, the lighting was too bright and the music did not match the ambience and was also quite loud at times. The menu reflects NYC/SF/Miami prices, I wish the menu were more creative and unique to Winston-Salem, its reflective of a basic corporate dinner. I gave 5 stars because the service is the best in all the ws restaurants I have been to, and drinks and food come out pretty quick. The waitresses/waiters are very educated on the menu and the bartender is quite creative with classic cocktails!
