Coming back from a business affair in New Jersey and stopped in to the Clinton House based on other Google reviews. The building itself is from the 1700’s, There is a cool vibe when you walk in that takes you back in time. We were seated right away for lunch without a reservation. Being a Monday afternoon the restaurant was fairly quiet. Our server Gigi did a great job of taking care of us, the food was excellent and the prices were in-line with the quality of the food.

We had the seafood tower for $57 and the oysters were not fresh at all. They smelled horrible and I am not sure why, but I decided to try one. It tasted rotten. We received 25% off the appetizer. Me and my family could be sick, and they only gave us 25% off! The waitress was attentive and great. The drinks were AMAZING! Which was the saving grace because the food was not good at all. Even our steaks were just okay. If you are going to price your food like an upscale food establishment, you better have the food and service to match. My family will not be going back to this restaurant. I would rather spend $200-$250 on a meal that I enjoyed.

I also heard the negative stories of new ownership and I have to say that there could be nothing further from the truth. I’m so glad we gave it a chance because the food is fantastic! I was shocked at the level and quality of the meals and the ladies that work there are so attentive and kind. I love the old building ( it could use a little remodeling) but still cozy and nice. Great bar as well. Right in downtown Clinton next to The Mill. It’s a great spot! Try it out and judge for yourself and you will see how good it is. Definitely one of my favorite places now.

Went to the Clinton House on Friday night – had been there several times before. Half hour ride from home, but well worth it! Huge, delicious “Friday Special” dinners, as well as pleasant and attentive service. An institution, and deservedly so!

The Clinton House is the perfect place to enjoying good company, delicious food and a great and friendly service. The environment en warm and relaxing, the ambient music is soft allowing conversation. The appetizer, a portobello fried was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The main dish, a roasted duck was moist and well seasoned, the sweet potato purée was very well balanced and a good match for the duck. Finally, the desert, a raspberry tart was the golden ribbon, a good balance between the raspberry acidity the cream and ice cream that brought memories for grandma cooking. The wine selection was good to pair these dishes.

We had not been here in years as the service and food quality had dropped off sharply. We were told it had turned things around and after a recent dinner we agree. I had the filet and it was great tasting and cooked to the correct temperature. The atmosphere was also improved in the main dining area. The service was top notch. We will be adding this back into our regular dining rotation.
