It is an absolute joy to eat at the Chili Parlor. The food is great, the owner and employees are very friendly and enjoy talking with every customer. Sometimes, even like you are family, I call the owner, Dad, he has a great sense of humor. The chili is awesome, as it has been for decades and always goes good with a chiliburger, with pickle, onions, and mustard. This chili burger was made perfectly. Good food, Good company, Good God, go eat some, I like it hot, but give that firebrand a try and put your name on the wall.

I’ve been coming here since my father in law and brother in law introduced me to the place (then on South Grand) in 1979. Still married and still coming (from Chicago).

I had my first bowl of chili here in about 1963. I would have been 7. That was at the tiny Southtown parlor. Once my Dad caught me pouring off the oil. He said, “Don’t do that – that’s where all the flavor is!” He was genuinely alarmed. Apparently there was something special about Den Chili.

Little Diamond in the rough. I come here whenever I have to be in Springfield. The chili might not be for everyone, but I love the Firebrand without the oil. Little spicy, but very tasty. The people that work here are wonderful and the resteraunt is super clean. Truly a classic old school chili parlor.

Interesting, and tradition in Springfield. Simple food, with plenty of customisation choices – as long as you like Chili and Hotdogs.

Chill is one of my favorite foods. I’ve been trying it all over the country and making multiple recipes at home. This is one of my favorites. The “hot” level is perfect for me and my wife likes mild. If you get one bowl you’ll also get a huge helping of oyster crackers as well. This is a great value for your money at lunch. If you’re feeling adventurous go for the Firebrand chili. It’s hot but has great flavor too.

This place is a cute little spot. the chili itself left much to be desired. I got the medium, I was not asked about onions or cheese. The chili itself was very greasy and bland lacking flavor. I had to stop at the store and add things to the chili.
