Be sure to define well done as “not burnt” otherwise that’s what you get. Waitress was good and polite. Asked if everything was okay, but complaining about something ordered well done seemed wrong–but seriously–burnt? The pasta was swimming in sauce.

Initially, The Cellar seemed poised to become a new favorite restaurant of ours. However, shortly after being seated and placing our order for the spinach dip, we quickly noticed the experience taking a downturn. To start with, it took half an hour to receive the appetizer. Then, upon receiving the appetizer, we promptly realized a flaw in the item’s description: it claimed the chips were homemade, but they clearly were not. If they are indeed homemade (which I highly doubt), they certainly weren’t anything special.

Husband & I had filet mignon $40 each and it was over cooked & know taste Husband didn’t even eat his so it was a waste of money. Also, it was our first time there & we had a new waitress who could not answer any of our questions she had to ho ask someone. My husband is working in the area, so we decided to try something new, but wow, what a waste of $120 very disappointed & we will go eat our filet mignon at Texas Rhodehouse like we normally do going foward because it us with the money & the a wonderful taste.

Their food is delicious, but their staff/servers are horrible. They’re all young kids that don’t know what they’re doing. We constantly had to flag other servers down as they walked past our table because ours never came to check on us after we got our food. We all needed refills and more napkins and our server was nowhere to be found. Good service is what brings back customers. If it wasn’t for the sorry service, I’d give the food a 4.5/5.

Millions of years ago, single celled organisms crawled forth from the primordial ooze of this planet and began the process of human evolution. Why? So that this restaurant could exist. I mean I’ve eaten at thousands of restaurants in my life but have never experienced food and service of this high caliber anywhere else. When I see people eating at other restaurants, I now have to question their life choices. After all, how could anyone choose to eat anywhere else when the Cellar is here and ready to send your taste buds into another dimension with their incredible food and world class service. The owners, servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff are all incredible people. Glad to see that humanity has finally peaked with this restaurant.

Stayed in Covington a week for work and found this place Monday upon coming into town. Well I didn’t end up eating anywhere else but here my whole stay. Very cool prohibition style bar with plenty of whisky and bourbon to wet your whistle. The food was outstanding and the service was great. Your most likely to meet one the owners if not James who runs the place, all are friendly, sociable guys. If your in the area staying or passing through take my advice, go here and nowhere else.

After being seated it took 15 minutes for someone to bring water and tell us the waitress would “be right with us” 10 minutes later she took our order. After 45 minutes (swear to the holy mother of the sweet baby Jesus in the manger) still no food. I sk for a manager, the manager told me it was trivia night and the trivia players in the bar were their first priority and that our food wasn’t started yet. We left.

If you like a laid back experience you’ll love it at The Cellar. The appetizers were wonderful. The brussel sprouts and boudin balls are a must try for everyone. I’ve never had anything like the boudin balls and I believe it’s a must have. The chicken and peppers is a perfect portion for those who find typical restaurant dinner sizes to be too much. We also had the cheesecake which was a perfect way to end it. Not too rich like most cheesecakes and was perfectly toasted on top. The owner is very personable. All the staff were nice and upbeat. I look forward to visiting again.

The mushroom ravioli is delicious. Basil forward which I love. The chicken picatta was equally tasty in a bright lemon butter sauce.. It is obvious that the pasta is fresh. Service was perfect .

I gave 3 stars because the owner did several table checks. The mushroom ravioli is tasty, however, make sure you order a salad as I only recieved 4.5 for $16.00. The normal serving for most ravioli dishes are 6. The classic burger was dry. The fries were good. The filet steak was ordered as Medium. It came out medium rare. If you like a lot of spices on steak, then this will satisfy your taste buds. The mashed potatoes were dry and needed seasoning. The carrots were tasty and still crisp which gave it better flavor in my opinion. The kitchen was backed up so my husband and I recieved our food way before the other person in our party. The owner gave us a discount for the long wait. He seemed to care that wait was long and was helping staff get sides and drinks out. I would potentially try it again on a weekday, since according to the waitress, there isn’t such a long wait. The antique car on the side as you walk out would be a great opportunity for pics if positioned a little more like a display piece. They have various types of live music, so don’t expect a true jazz/20’s atmosphere.
