I had a really nice crab roll. Had a little kick to it, maybe some old bay seasoning? very tasty. fries were nice and hot. good cole slaw too. Beautiful view out front.

The food was good, but pricey. We couldn’t have afforded the dinner menu. We asked for cups of water, but were informed we had to buy bottled water, at $3 per bottle. We ate without drinks. There is no bathroom and we were told we’d have to walk to the wharf for a restroom. It turns out that restaurants aren’t required to have restrooms for seating of fewer than 25.

The Breeze and Castine Variety Store had an old Maine charm to it. The sign calling it a restaurant is a bit misleading as there is limited seating available.

We stayed down the road for a week and stopped in for dinner first, then went back multiple times for breakfast, cold drinks, and excellent espresso. We absolutely loved the place. Kermit and Snow were warm and welcoming. I am perplexed by the negative reviews here; we found the food and the fun drinks (Thai iced coffee, Hawaiian iced tea) absolutely delicious – fresh ingredients and well-seasoned. Some coast of Maine standards (lobster, fried seafood, blueberry pancakes) but also a few surprising menu items, like curry. Eclectic, fun, and delicious!

My husband and I stopped here to eat – it was our first time in Castine. The food was fantastic! I had the fish and chips, which was hands down the best fish and chips that I’ve ever had.

After my order was made incorrect I asked for it to be remade. After a “less than happy” response from the owner (Kermit) My sandwich was taken and I could hear him ask a the chef remake it. The chef had said something along the lines of “it wasn’t on the ticket.” Kermit confirmed this by saying “I forgot to add it.” After waiting for my sandwich to be remade Kermit had brought me back the same to-go box with the exact same sandwich except the toppings were scraped off and a new top bun was put on. There was still remnants of the toppings in the box and on the sandwich. After thanking him politely he just grunted at me. I told him have a nice day and he again just stared at me and grunted. After I left I tasted the cheese burger and it confirmed my suspicions as I could taste all the toppings that were on the burger before they “remade” it. Other people in my party enjoyed the food there but the service was awful. I would not recommend going here as there is better options in a very short walking distance. If my review is not enough please refer to the “professionalism” displayed in the responses to reviews left by the owner. Another member of our party posted a review with this same encounter and was accused of lying as well as several other reviewers.

The perfect end to our day in Castine! The food is fresh and made with a lot of love. We had the tuna poke and the soft-shell crab thai curry and savored every bite. The atmosphere is that of a quintessential, coastal Maine town, comfortable and not fussy. Just wonderful tastes presented in a friendly, warm atmosphere.

The best ribs we had in a long time. We are from Texas, we know our ribs. We had ribs all over the country, these are amazing! Fish and chips are great too. Not too much batter, the freshness of the fish speaks for itself .

They say us at a table with another couple when there were more spots open. Ordered the crab salad and it was the worst and cheapest thing I have ever seen. Plain lettuce, tomato and onion with a dash of crab. My 2 yr old nephew could have done better. We explained to the host that the crab tasted bad, but he gave us attitude rather than trying the food himself. He said it was Maine crab, but we’ve been to several other seafood places and this one was on a totally new level of suck.

My husband and I had the lobster roll and crab melt – honestly some of the best we have ever had. Even though we are local to Maine, we were not overly familiar with Castine. We were provided with lots of information on the area that we would have missed had we not stopped in. It was so tasty and had such friendly staff. I look forward to going back!
