The Blazer Pub takes its name from a term coined in western Ireland in the late 1800s by a group of enthusiastic foxhunters and their hounds. After a day’s work, these hunters would gather in a temporary hut or shack to celebrate their hard-earned bounty. When the merriment ended, they set fire to the hut and watched while it blazed and burned down, thus enjoying the glow of the Galway Blazer.
While the name has been around since the 1800s, the building was constructed in 1928, serving as a rest stop along Route 22. The owners sold hot dogs to weary travelers right out of the front window. By the early 1950’s, the rest area was fully converted into a restaurant and tavern.
The Blazer Pub was first opened in 1971 by Tom and Emer Heavey.

Still a wonderful spot after all these years! I have been stopping here on & off for some 40 plus years & I am never disappointed! A great date night for cocktails, Tommy, the bar tender is on top of his game with a cheery greeting upon sitting at his arena. Our hostess was delightful & kept us updated on our table reservation.

This restaurant is a relic of a magical time in history. It can truly be appreciated, if you turn your phone off and settle into your seat.

So many delicious options! The Blazer Pub is a comfortable and welcoming spot to enjoy a filling meal and friendly service. Their craft beer selection is decent, but the main draw is the food. Plenty of delicious options. We love the tomato bacon soup, as well as the clam chowder. The chili is amazing and so are the wings. All the sandwiches are terrific. But the biggest surprise of all is the “Cape Cod Reuben.”

I have been going to the Blazer for many years. It is a staple in my restaurant repertoire. Everything from the burgers to the Cape Cod sandwich is really delicious. The appetizers, especially the wings are fantastic. I eat there with my children or alone as the owners and all of the wait staff are really friendly and accommodating. Tommy at the bar will serve both drinks and food and do it with a smile. Elizabeth and Colleen are a delight. The soups are tasty, whether if it’s the tomato bacon, clam chowder or any special soup for that day. They handled the Covid pandemic extremely well by keeping everything safe and had the food ready to go in an orderly manner. Heading over there now for a burger, wings and fries. I highly recommend the Blazer for lunch and or dinner.

One of the best pubs in the area. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu. The wings are always crispy! Also love their burgers. And careful on what size fries you order. A small is enough for 2 maybe 3 people.

A fun family pub with a vintage vibe that takes you back to the good old days. Food was delicious, but a bit greasy, just to be aware. Staff were accommodating and welcomed everyone with big smiles and positive attitudes! Makes me want to be a regular!

The burgers, chili, hot dogs and grilled chicken Caesar wrap are all great. Huge steak fries, tomato bacon soup that is total comfort food (especially on a cold day).

Great burgers and chili, The Blazer is an old standby. The food has remained consistently good over the years, every hamburger I’ve ever had, I always compare it to Blazer’s. Blazer always wins. BTW they do not take reservations except maybe for larger parties.
