The Black Sheep is a small and minority-owned farm-to-table restaurant and catering service based in Whitewater, WI. The Black Sheep is community focused. We source as many ingredients as we possibly can at a local level. Black Sheep is a phrase referring to an individual or entity that is unafraid to stand out – to be different. We take pride in our processes, pour love into our food, and look forward to every opportunity to show our guests why standing out is a far better option than fitting in.

We hired chef Jay to cater a baby shower for 35 women and it was so delicious! Everyone complimented the food. They even brought serving platters that matched our woodland shower theme. I would highly recommend the food and the service and if you have a party they are the perfect choice for catering your next event!

I had dinner here once a year ago and had such a great experience. I think about the amazing food I ate here all the time and was sad to see that it’s temporarily closed. The food was absolutely amazing, I love that they had a vegan option on the menu. The owner was so kind and very knowledgeable on the food. I loved the vibe and the decorations, it was so cozy. I hope to see that they are open again soon because I would love to come back.

Nice farm to table place in Whitewater. They prominently display the local providers on a chalkboard by the bar and the server also made it a point to stress them. Part of the menu remains constant while the rest rotates each month. Service was good, we had a very undercooked meal and they promptly addressed it and brought a different entree since our diner changed their mind after the undercooked issue and then they comped the new entree. Nice and warm on a cold day with a great selection of comfort food. Very creative and delicious vegan meatloaf.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant and a very enticing menu! My wife and I went there about a month ago and I enjoyed their Old Fashioned of the month made with orange cream whiskey. The concept fits Wisconsin to a T! In addition, their chef changes the featured dishes every month to match that of in-season produce and flavors, so the most local and highest quality ingredients can be used. Pictured are the Yuca fries with a chipotle aioli, the jerk chicken with a coconut rice and pineapple salsa, and for the wife, of course, the mac and cheese. But happy to say it was one of the best Mac and cheeses we’ve ever tasted and you can tell the noodles were homemade which made it even better. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very chic and made you feel like you were eating a home cooked meal.

By far one of the greatest restaurants we’ve been too. We stop by every chance we get on our way to/from Chicago. They have literally the best grits we’ve eaten North of the South (and better than most of the south too!). The composition of there grits changes from month to month, along with most of their menu. Which means there is always something new to try. My mouth begins to water just thinking about how good it was. The staff is super friendly too. One of the chef’s will always come out and say hullo, which makes for a nice dinner environment. This is definitely well worth the stop!

Very cute atmosphere. The food was fabulous!! I told everyone about this food for weeks. It’s great because you know the food is healthy as well. The cocktails were beautiful and very unique. I will be making the 45 minute drive to come back.

Fantastic! Had the Scallop special. Scallops were perfectly cooked. Everyone in our party of 6 raved about the meal. The service was also very good. The sweet potato créam brulee was fab! Very quaint atmosphere. Will be back for more.
