A quiet little restaurant you might walk right past. However, the chef and his wife inside make the most wonderful wild game dishes you’ve ever had. From wild boar to quail and even Kangaroo, all the dishes taste fresh and extremely flavorful.

Went for belated anniversary dinner for a nice night out. This place is very small but I did not feel confined. There were many specials and unique menu items to choose from and the presentation was excellent. The waiter was top notch and very friendly. I would recommend this place for a nice night out, might just want to make reservations in advanced or you might not get a seat.

Went here for a bday and the service and food were amazing!!! I would highly recommend. The drinks were inventive, adventurous and so tasty. The filet was complimented w a tamarind glaze that was to die for. Everything was perfect and so close to our general area. A gem within the suburbs that I can’t rave enough about. Def check this place out.

Black Bear Bistro is a newer restaurant in the area, and right as soon as we walked in, the hostess was friendly and attentive. We had a reservation, and she suggested a table in the back, since we came with our 2 small children, and it was a great idea. The food was absolutely delicious, Full of flavor and fresh. We got the salmon, and the lobster tail and shrimp over a veggie platter. The chef and staff did an outstanding job, and we will definitely be back soon.

What an incredible dinner we had tonight at Black Bear Bistro! From the warm welcome we received from the always delightful Estella, the wonderful service from Jerry and the amazingly delicious dinner, it was a perfect evening! The blackened swordfish special was truly magic, I’ve never had better swordfish anywhere. My husband ordered the trout which is always spectacular. Don’t skip the escargot appetizer, it’s the stuff dreams are made of. And to finish it off, try the key lime pie! I think Black Bear Bistro is the best restaurant you’ll find in the area, my number 1 pick for a fantastic dinner! Thanks for a great night Black Bear, I can’t wait to return!

Beautiful cozy hidden gem in the city. Delicious and yummy food. Presentation is gorgeous. Vegetarian options available too and the chef even made the custom dish on the request. Highly recommend if you are looking to try something unique.

4 meals ordered. One of them, the trout (from the regular menu–not a weekly special), we were told was not available; two hours after the restaurant opened for the night. The chicken breast on a second order had to be sent back because it was raw, and the shrimp that was supposed to be a part of the dish was forgotten and was brought to the table on a separate plate. Third dish, Poblano pepper with salmon was mostly tasteless, with too much sauce and overcooked salmon. Dish # 4, the half chicken, was greasy, and the fried potatoes were too salty. The bill came to $176.00, which is about $100 more than it was worth. No compensation for the raw chicken at all (that should have been taken off the bill). Slow service for such a small place. We will not be going back. All that the owner had to say about our meal was that “Not everyone likes our type of food”.

This quaint little gem in downtown Algonquin is the coziest, friendliest little place! Took my friend here to celebrate her 40th birthday. It was perfect! The food is prepared fresh from scratch, and it is worth.the wait! Our waiter was extremely attentive, courteous and offered suggestions since it was our first time there. This is the type of place where you can forget the outside world, relax in the company of friends and enjoy a phenomenal meal. The owner came out to greet us and you could tell she was humble, yet proud of her husband, an experienced chef of 27 years. It is very obvious how much love and passion goes into running this place. Highly recommend it!!!

Incredibly well-cooked and perfectly seasoned meat. We tried the flank steak, pork belly, and bison tacos and found them all fantastic.
