The building was an expansion of Clarence Schallert’s existing career as a wholesale liquor salesman. The Schallert’s were granted the first liquor license in the village’s history to open their store.

Big fan of this place. Nice to have a hip local bar right downtown Whitefish Bay in the north shore. There is a great outdoor patio for when the weather is good. Nice variety of menu items. The Bay Burger is a classic. Feel good place to go as well since the owners are very active in the community.

I was a little disappointed with my first visit to The Bay. The service was great, the atmosphere nothing special at all.

Y’all know I like to taste good food. This place delivered. Drinks were amazing and my sweet potato burger hit the spot. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place that offers a good lighter meal. This place has choices and I appreciate that.

It’s the usual bar and grill. When you walk in, there is a sign that tells you to wait to be seated. The problem is that no one was to seat us. So we stood there for about 7 minutes before the bartender told us to sit anywhere. Finally, the waitress came over and gave us menus. She asked what we’d like to drink. We both asked for water. She immediately returned with the water and asked if we were ready to order. We asked for a few minutes to look over the menu. She said ok and did not return for 20 minutes. I know it was 20 minutes because there was a tower clock right outside our window that I took a photo of that is posted with this comment. I am not going to discuss the food. It was ok. Please try the coleslaw.

Very casual with great food. I had a grilled cheese and tomato soup. Delicious. Good beer selection. Large outdoor area if you prefer eating outside. Parking is on the street with meters.

We love this restaurant. Usually, the food is delicious. The last time I was there, I didn’t know what had happened; neither the food nor the service were there. Usually I would rate them 5 stars, not this time.

I have been to The Bay restaurant many times. Last night on the way to the airport, my and I stopped for dinner. She had an Asian chicken salad, which was great. I decided to order the ribs. Quite frankly, they were the worst ribs I’ve ever had. They were smoky in flavor and the sauce was just OK, but somewhat tasteless. They looked like they had been reheated five times. They were thin, dry, tough, and cold! This was the first time I have ordered ribs that I needed a steak knife to cut them off the bones! I would have sent them back and gotten a burger if I would have had the time. If you go to The Bay, stick to the burgers and salads. Definitely not worth the price for these ribs. Horrible!

I went with my family and was seated quickly on a Tuesday night. Our food overall was pretty good! We liked the cauliflower appetizer and the burgers.

Went there because it was close to our area and my friend and I were seated after 20 mins(which is fine). Constantly had to flag down our waitress who would clearly be checking on other tables. We were sat from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with no food. Only water, that we had to flag another server down for, and then had a separate waiter give us our appetizers that we ordered over 30 minutes before. After waiting over an hour for our food we decided to ask for our ticket so that we could leave since we needed to be somewhere by 7:30. So we flag down our waitress again. She gives us our ticket but refuses to let us pay for just our appetizers and that our food was coming out. Mind you we only ordered a salad and a pasta dish. So we reluctantly wait for them to actually make our food then pack it to give to us. Once given to us, I realized she gave us the wrong food and I’ve opened the container and picked around it to see if I liked it or if i wanted to go through the trouble of telling her that I didn’t want a lasagna and that I ordered salad. She closes the container and takes the lasagna back and I’m sure gives it to another customer and gives me a thrown together salad and pasta with no utensils. We leave with no apology or appeasements. Can’t believe to be treated this way and I saw an earlier comment about staff profiling by race and I wouldn’t put it past this establishment based on the service received. Will not return.

Good food. Service was a little slow but maybe that was because they were just opening up and we were their first customers. The food took a while to get to us. But overall good dining experience
