There was some confusion about what we could order when we arrived. It seems The Avenue restaurant is for dining on standard cooked fare. It seems they are also known as Capital Crab, which seems to be a sister restaurant. We wanted blue crabs, so we were asked to move outside to the back patio. Not a big deal, and quite understandable considering the mess we would make eating blue crabs. Their back patio had the proper setup for this, with paper-topped tables, paper towels, and wet naps handy. We were told there would be a 30-40 minute wait hour the crabs. Pricing per dozen as of 7/3/2023 was as follows: medium crabs – $110; large – $135; extra large – $160. Their extra large crabs were sold out, so they only had mediums and larges. We ordered a dozen larges.

I am biased, as my brother works at The Avenue. That said, for the past two months, my wife and I (a mix of family and friends have joined us) have eaten at The Avenue on Monday nights. 1/2 price burgers! The burgers are delicious! Two patties high, smothered with cheese and other deliciousness. It is worth the visit. I did not, nor will l, be compensated for this posting.

I feel like I’m being punked. I’m not sure where these good reviews are coming from because the food I received was so horrible, I’m in complete disbelief! I placed a take out order for the cod sandwich. Took about 40 minutes from the time I placed the order to receive it. Get home and it’s a quarter of a half cooked piece of fish. I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. McDonalds serves better quality food. Complete waste of money – do not go here.

Service very slow (probably due to mothers Day, but most places would provide extra staff/resources). Food was unremarkable. Little bit overpriced for quality and quantity given. My steak was burnt. I wasn’t asked how I wanted it cooked at time of order. Salad was missing a few things. Mimosa was quite sour.

This is a really good place for crab–entree cakes, chowder, sandwich, whole steamed (in season). They have indoor and outdoor seating, and are located just south of Chevy Chase Circle. I took a star away because the cole slaw could be more interesting and a larger portion, and the fries could be crispier.

Bar owner turned restaurant owner. We recently visited The Avenue with a group of 6 and was very underwhelmed with the quality of food and service. The burger had an odd gamey flavor, which to be honest, was a little unsettling. The chicken sandwich and wings, however, were excellent.

This place is great! If I don’t get there at least every other week, I feel like I missed out! Chicken and burgers and crab dip are…cravings now. So delicious! The service is awesome and the people are great company. Oh, and they have the “good” ice. This is a keeper.
