The Asbury celebrates the best of what the South has to offer in ingredients, technique, creativity, and, of course, hospitality. The Asbury is a tribute to the city’s Southern roots + the culturally diverse community of the New South. The Asbury offers dishes that are uniquely Carolinian: modern but rustic, evolving but still rooted in classics, southern + welcoming. There is a strong tie to heirloom ingredients native to our area, lost to time + modernization, as well as specialty items grown by small, family farms throughout the local region. The Asbury serves lunch + dinner seven days a week, and brunch on Saturdays + Sundays. The Asbury’s menu is also available at The Dunhill Hotel’s Lobby Bar. Regional artwork curated by Sozo Gallery.

The Asbury was quiet early on a Monday morning. That allowed me the opportunity to chat with staff and recover following a late night at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Nikki M is a fantastic server and was perfectly attentive without hovering. I’d hoped to try the Chicken Biscuit with the piquillo cream cheese and blueberry jam, but they were out of chicken (not surprising after a busy weekend). I got my second choice, the Classic Breakfast. The scrambled eggs were good, the bacon extra crispy (just as I like it), and the jalapeno & smoked gouda potato cake, while just a little bit greasy, was scrumptious. The biscuit was overcooked but flakey enough to separate. Once the harder outside layers were removed, it met the expectations of this “southern rustic fare” restaurant. Its location inside The Dunhill allowed me a quick peak of Charlotte’s only “historic boutique hotel.” Next time I’ll try to stay onsite and take advantage of the full bar and an expanded menu at The Asbury.

Racist/xenophobic service, explicitly made fun of Asian background and accent. Refused to provide napkins. Differential treatment was clear when compared with white patrons in the room. Brunch was mediocre; the bread was dry and the sauces were too heavy. The deviled eggs were good.

My friend and I stayed at the hotel and dined in for breakfast. The room was lovely and clean. It was convenient walking distance to food trucks and a variety of restaurants. (Also the Knight Theatre which was one of our stops.)We had breakfast this morning and our server was prompt and helpful. The food was delicious! I’ll definitely visit again and recommend to friends.

The food was delicious. Beth was an amazing Host. We ordered the Short ribs and the Mahi Mahi entree was tender and well cooked. For appetizers we had the charcuterie Board and deviled eggs.

Excellent restaurant. The steak was delicious and cooked to perfection. The “kitchen sink fries” was amazing even though it was not on the menu. Good wine selection and reasonablypriced. The service was fantastic. Our waiter made excellent recommendations for both food and wine.

The restaurant is fun and unique. I had a lovely time and wanted for nothing.

As of January 2023, the quality is horrendous. I don’t use this word to describe food often, but it was literally revolting. I have come to this restaurant since it opened 10 years ago. A change in staff has left them without a chef. When I went, several tables left from the lack of major ingredients such as gravy and chicken (hello??? Chicken and waffles was the mainstay). The servers were doing their absolute best and I don’t want to ding them. The hotel manager was so kind and recognized the problem and assured me it was only temporary.

I am super disappointed this place isn’t busier than it was. My wife and I have been to many upscale restaurants in Charlotte but this seems to be a hidden gem that has fallen out of grace. Graham and the staff took very good care of us. The food and overall service was excellent. I highly recommend for a great date night, dinner with friends or just a good meal out in Downtown. Yes, I said downtown, that’s what all of us natives have been calling it for years prior to rebranding in the 90’s.

Great dining experience. We had the entire place to ourselves. Our server Natalie was very attentive and sweet. They switch their menu items often so you will always find something new to try. The sticky biscuits definitely lived up to their name.
