They have the best equsi soup in Tampa but also take the longest to prepare from all the other restaurants that serve the soups. It use to take 45mins now its up to an hour wait. I drive almost an hour craving their Nigerian delicious food. I really liked going to them every single month after my doctors appointment, but I was sold cold food that tasted like it was warmed up.and I know it was warmed up because I would come every single month. The chicken was really tough and me and my sister was very disappointed because they do have the best equsi soup in Tampa. They did replace our food with a fresh order but by the time we got it, we were no longer hungry. I think they can do a lot better if they were a lil faster in the kitchen or have somethings pre done while still being hot and not left over from yesterday or day before. That’s what confused me when they say they cook their food to order. I still say they have the best equsi soup and pounded yams. I’m just scared to waste my money on the chicken again. The chicken use to be really juicy and falling off the bone now it’s just too tough to eat. I really wanted some last month but was pushing for time when they said it would be an hour wait. Ugh also when that girl that take orders seem like she don’t like working there. It’s always no excitement to take our orders it’s like she always have an attitude until we pick up our food. My opinion to that is I think someone else should take the orders. I be ready just to cancel my whole order. But the equsi is like crack I just gotta have it. I LOVE THE MANAGER. She is so sweet and know how to run her business. I wish she was there when I come. I rather ordering from her and if I dine she make sure our experience is very much enjoyed. Great food best one in Tampa no one else have yet to tip them.

I’m grateful that they took my order although they were about to close. However, I regret not being more mindful of the reviews. I ordered the Egusi and while the dish was flavorful the goat was soooooooooooo tough. Although the food had a lot of potential, I wouldn’t dare give them a try again since tough meat seems to be a reoccurring trend.

Pin this location asap. While visiting FL, I searched “African Food” and this was the first option that appeared. I am glad we did! I recommend the gbegiri and amala. I also tried the Zobo drink, I loved the fresh drink – the hibiscus/ginger/pineapple blend I tried was very refreshing. When a chef loves what they do, it comes through in flavor.

This is my second time trying to get food from here, and both times have been horrible. When I walked in to pick up my order at the counter I was ignored. The young lady kept up her conversation with another young man. I kept asking them if I could get my food, and they ignored me. When I finally got my food , it was cold and soggy. I will not be coming back. Awful customer service, very unprofessional, and overrated prices for less than mediocre food.

I have always wanted to taste African cuisine, especially the egusi soup and pounded yam that I have heard about.

Found my new lunch spot!! I’ve been in Florida about 2 years now and would wait until I traveled to NY for the holidays to get nigerian food because there’s not many good ones over here but this one hit home. I got egusi soup with the 2 beef and fish with poundo and it was so good I ate it in the parking lot didn’t even make it home smh. Only thing is I wish it was spicier but I probably should’ve said that over the phone. For those saying that it is over priced for the serving you receive I believe it is enough for one person. As for the price everything has gone up because of covid especially the price of meat if you cook you would realize that and I would rather quality over quantity anyway. Its like this in ALL restaurants. Also some of these reviews on here/yelp are misleading nigeran food isn’t for everyone’s taste and it is disrespectful to insult our culture. Research before trying something you know you won’t like. This business is awesome keep doing yall thing!

So it’s very hard, and I know everybody has their opinion “just as I do” to do these reviews but here goes one that is close to my heart. I was looking for Nigerian food closer to me here in FL and there was a lot of smoke in the reviews about TFK.

If you want the best Nigerian cuisine in Tampa, I highly recommend TFK African Food. The food was delicious! I got the coconut rice with 2 pieces of beef and fish, so so good. I had to take some home as the portion size was large. Customer service is amazing, the owner is so welcoming and energetic. The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance, good music and lovely decorations; feels like you’re in a Nollywood movie. It’s so good, my parents always stop by when in the Tampa area. Come and try it for yourself, you won’t regret it.

1st & last time going to this knockoff Nigerian restaurant. I should have read reviews first. I drove almost an hr for expensive garbage! The oxtails & goat were like eating rubber, obviously not cooked long enough. The tablespoon of okra soup was a JOKE! The fufu & Jollof rice were the only things that tasted ok. SO FRUSTRATED & DISAPPOINTED. Wasted $60
