Really appreciate them accepting our Groupon. Food was alright. Would have liked one or two more non-vegetarian dishes. Bottle gourd (doodhi) halwa was good, however it had too much ghee in it. Red / orange chutney was really good. Fresh dosas on the table were a good idea. Papad was nice and crisp. Goat curry was very tasty. Tandoori chicken was excellent (would have liked a bit less salty though). Shrimp korma was a surprise and a good one at that.

Overall south indian specialty food is awesome. North Indian food is good. Food is a bit on spicy side. The Ambience is not very appealing. It has potential to be a good place for eating with few changes. The price to quantity of food is a bit high.

We ordered pepper chicken and butter paneer masala with butter naan and samosa and chicken biriyani. Samosa was good and coconut chutney was great. Both curries and naan was great. We ordered more. But biriyani wasn’t that great. We didn’t even bother to finish biriyani. Good location. Reasonable prices. Staff is kind of friendly not very crowded.

Taste of Chennai is actually Taste of Andhra. not an authentic Tamilnadu restaurant. I called them to check whether the biryani was made of seeraga samba rice for the weekend buffet yesterday. They said yes.

Hopeless! We tried the dosa night on Sunday evening. The buffet was not good at all, they ran out of vada, zucchini pakorey were uncooked. They also had lemon rice, which tasted good but was cold. The coconut chutney was stale. Sambar and tomatoe chutney was good. Dosa’s were okay, we had to tell them to make it crispy. I would not recommend Taste of Chennai to anyone.

#Taste of perfectly screwed our weekend. I have never seen any new restaurant absolutely botched the opening night and nights of many others. We ordered the carry out order at 8.15 pm and asked us to pick up the food at 9 pm. Alright, sounds like a plan. We came at 9.10 pm and we were told biriyani is over. OVER!!!. There were so many people with families sitting and waiting for their food only to be told “Biriyani is over, please eat dosa”. My daughter told me “Daddy, we should have ordered food last night to pick it up now”. Overall they screwed our night, had to scramble last minute to pick food elsewhere, kids crying all this while…#Taste of Chennai, you just shoot yourself in your foot. I am never going to come here again!!!

I’ve been here a few times now. When it comes to Indian food, a quick fix of chicken biryani never ceases to satisfy my craving. I also love me some samosas. I just love how almost every culture has their own version of a bread filled dish; empanadas, in the Spanish culture, etc.

This location is great place to get a quick Indian dinner. I’ve eaten at most of the Indian restaurant options in the Naperville and Plainfield area, and while this is not my favorite location it is in my top 3. The food is good quality, the options are various enough to satisfy the tastes for most groups, and the service is excellent. On both visits the staff was helpful in answering questions and making suggestions for dinner based on the flavor preferences of the customer. They also were very responsive to questions and concerns during the meal. I will be back many times.

Not sure if the restaurant rates even the one star. This place was good a year ago. Now all they serve is stale and frozen food. The paratha was from a frozen food packet, the masala in the dosas seemed to be a day old and the vada was super hard to bite into. To cap it off, the guy taking the order told us they did cant make tea because the milk was not in yet, this at 2PM in the afternoon. Not going back for anything.
