I’m torn because I’d give the food itself 4.5 stars, but a few things bring the score down. First is the service. Everyone is very polite. But with the exception of the main younger male waiter, everyone acts like it’s their first day ever working anywhere. Regardless of how busy or quiet it is, approaching to get a table is super awkward. It’s like they’re not sure if you’re standing in line to get a table, or to fix the stove. Again, they are not rude in ANY way. Very polite, actually. But these are the same people that work there every day and have for a while so I’m not sure why they turn their head and act confused when you ask for a table. (As an aside, the first three times I tried to go there for lunch, some of the staff, like the CHEF, “didn’t show up yet.” This was at 12:30pm for a lunch rush. The second time nobody brought keys to unlock the door! (Out of the entire staff?!) and the third time they didn’t have anyone to serve. I finally got in a few weeks later on my fourth try.)

I visited in September 2022 and then the food was awesome.

Ordered Bhanta Ra Chicken (Spice level 1), Chicken Tikka Masala (Spice level 7) and naan. Their spice level ranges from 1 to 10 and the server mentioned that the spice level across different dishes is not the same for each dish (a level 3 for one is not the same as another. The Tikka Masala tasted alright over the rice. The eggplant they use in Bhanta Ra is not like the purple eggplant but the ‘Thai eggplant’ variety that is green. At a spice level 1, I should have selected a higher level. The naan was very nice to eat, soft and easy to tear apart. The portions are good and the service was very kind. Ambiance of the location is quite nice, not too dimly lit and plenty of seating.

Finally found authentic Nepali food. We loved everything we ordered. The flavors were like Radisson Hotel in Kathmandu. It’s very hard to find quality Nepali food as we’ve been to a few places. Look forward to coming back again soon

Found this spot on the fly and it was delicious! Servings may look small but we still had leftovers. Naan was probably some of the best I’ve had. Great experience!

Absolutely delicious. The portions were incredible. Best Naan I’ve ever had, melts in your mouth. Spice from 0-10 to accommodate anyone. Gorgeous interior and wonderful atmosphere.

The food at Taste of the Himalayas was excellent. We ordered lamb and shrimp dishes that were full of flavor, add to that the naan that was soft and buttery. I especially loved the coconut naan as it was both desert and part of the main meal. Definitely worth returning to explore more menu items. I gave 4 stars on service because our food took very long and we were already starving when we got to the restaurant. Perhaps they were understaffed?!

Something has changed for sure all across this chain. It doesn’t taste the same what it was like about 6 months ago. Curries are way too sweet, portion size is pretty small like not enough paneer or lamb pieces in the curries. This was one of my fav restaurants but unfortunately not anymore!

Point Loma location is the one I’ve always been too. First time at this location and it’s equally as good. Plenty of parking. Has indoor and patio seating.
