Easily one of the best Sushi places in Alaska. The quality has definitely exceeded expectations for such a small town in Alaska.

This place is AMAZING! Coming from a city with tons of sushi options, this might be the best I have ever had. Me and my husband got one sushi meal and an extra sushi roll and it was perfect for two. Absolutely worth every penny. The service was great!

Buy far the best sushi I’ve had in the area ever. Sushi restaurants come and go around here and I hope this one never leaves. I loved everything about the place down to the robotic serving waiter. Well worth the price and the atmosphere is very inviting and relaxing.

Wow! We were hoping for a good lunch to help us the rest of our way to Homer, but what we got was a true culinary experience that exceeded all my expectations. First of all the service was gracious, timely, and kind; especially to our active little 9 month old. Secondly, the sushi was super fresh, delicious, and had excellent flavor from start to finish. Thirdly, the amount and diversity of food you got for your dollar makes this 3 course meal 100% worth it. Finally, the presentation was beautiful! Truly an artistic as well as a culinary experience. If you like sushi, A Taste of Japan is a must! Did I mention they have a talking robot that delivers your plates to the table?!

Ok first off it is a little expensive but honestly so worth it! There’s not a lot of fancy places in town and this is definitely a nice date night place. Very quiet and intimate. I was by myself but I enjoyed not being badgered and hearing lots of people all around. Everything tasted fantastic and it’s authentic! The menu is super simple but the presentation of the food was beautiful! The little robot server was adorable and the host was great about questions. I will definitely eat here again but man the dinner option is a lot of food for one person so bring an appetite. First time trying kimchi and takoyaki (it may not be a popular favorite for some but if you’re an adventurous eater definitely worth it) and I still loved it! They have ramune sodas and mochi! Definitely as advertised a taste of Japan!

A sushi gem in Soldotna! So grateful these guys are here and so happy to support an awesome local business. The rolls we ordered were tasty, portions generous, relaxing music was playing in the background and the cat robot delivering the rolls sealed the deal. Check these guys out!

I was so skeptical about Taste of Japan after Sushi Exchanges sudden close as well as their prices but oh. my. god. I love this place!

We were excited to try out Taste of Japan today and it delivered on everything we’ve read so far. The meals are full course and multiple, so you are quite full by the time you’re done. Prices are on the high end, but you’re paying for some seriously quality food compared to what you can normally get in our little town. I got the Unadon dinner and felt like royalty eating that much tender, savory eel.

Has an ex tower crane operator in Portland/Seattle areas I became spoiled with exceptional sushi! However, since moving to Alaska I have a mourned the absence of such excellent sushi …If you’re in anchorage I recommend ‘Sushi Ya’ but down here there was nothing, I mean nothing for a sushi lover to consider! Until sushi exchange changed hands and is now Taste of Japan. Fairly small but exceptional service and dining so swell that only my wallet makes me think twice. But it is incredibly worth it!!
