Tara’s Roti Shop Menu – Tampa, FL

Type : Caribbean restaurant

Location : Tampa, FL

Welcome to Tara’s Roti Shop, my mother (Tara) opened the ROTISHOP August 1995 at 8916 N. Nebraska Ave. We moved to 10006 N 30th street May 2004. My mother Tara passed away July 2020 and I have been running the business full time since Jan 2020. I have always been part of the ROTISHOP, however more in the background, doing paperwork, buying products, stocking, cleaning, etc. I am more of a business person, however I do try my best. My aunt (Doreen) has been doing all the cooking for the last 20 years. Currently there are 3 of us working, my aunt doing all the cooking, myself, I prepare all food, answer the phone, prepare delivery orders, stock, clean, cash, order products, prep, take orders in front and. a prep person.

Easygoing establishment with a bar supplying handmade Trinidadian fare & other Caribbean dishes. Based on 635 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 3.9 stars. Price $

The doubles here are perfectly authentic! And the very spice has kick and just the way I like it! Had a roti as well it was pretty good too but for sure recommend the doubles. Oh also recommend waiting for order outside as the incense are a little intense for a restaurant.

I purchased 2 bakes with salt fish today, the lady that served my food had an attitude not welcoming at all. I get home to eat my food and there is nothing but tomato skin when I called to complain she stated that that’s the way it’s done. Is salt fish and bake. Not tomatoe skin and bake. Will never return

We had not been here in years since Tara passed away. The daughter took over the business.

I order 3 times from this business to support. The food is 7/10 if you are Caribbean. If your not it may be a 9/10 for you. There is no customer service on any level and the owner doesn’t care and she will tell you that too. She is the one who answers the phone and speaks to you like you owe her money. Oh, she takes everything personal and it sucks because people want to support her but now everyone goes to Dunns river down the street. Read the rest of the reviews of you need more proof.

My family and I visited Tara’s Roti shop, I personally will NEVER spent another penny there. Customer service was horrible, not friendly AT ALL, not welcoming, made no eye contact with us. I try to make conversation like how was your day

Lady that helped my family wasn’t friendly…. The boneless curry chicken was EXTREMELY WATERY. I had to bring it home add spices cook it down some more and add thyme to make it taste even palatable. The food just was disappointing for $119.59 I expected top quality food. Unfortunately we would not be going back.

I was in Tampa for a day, and googled this place. Since I am Trini, I had to get some doubles, curry chicken and curry shrimp and rice. All I have to say is I regretted going and wasting my money. Doubles was horrible the Bara was hard no taste, curry chicken no taste missing everything watery plus chicken wasn’t cooked all the way, and curry shrimp oh my goodness that’s is Cocktail shrimp that’s not how you use to make curry shrimp; that’s laziness. The lady running the place now is rude We knew that. All of you that are saying this is the best, you must have never lived in Trinidad. Come to Orlando or go to Joy’s in Fort Lauderdale. Joy’s the best!!!

First time trying Trini food. Good channa flavor. My biggest complaint was how the doubles were packed. The thin paper wrapper was so wrong for this food. You need to serve on a plate or in a takeout box. It turned into a mess and almost ruined the experience.
