I lived in Thailand nearly 15 years and I’m happy to say all 3 dishes we had were delicious and authentic tasting. Pad Thai shrimp, stir-fried basil (ground chicken) and fried morning glory. The staff were friendly, and I enjoyed the opportunity to speak Thai and reminisce on Thailand. I’ll definitely return to try some other dishes.

Our host told us that everyone from their restaurant migrated from Thailand so the food is very authentic. I have to admit the big flat noodles in Tom Yum soup are super delicious. The Pad Thai shrimps and Pad See Ew beef are amazing. I will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Amazing place to get Thai food! Quality, portion size and price are all great! The staff is very attentive and friendly. Any time we’re in the area Tantawan is definitely our go-to. Picture is of the Crispy Wontons, Flaming Drunken Noodles and Thai Tea. You can adjust the spicy level of the Drunken Noodles; mild was a pleasant kick even for me that has low spice tolerance. The Tai Tea…some of the best Ive had, although it does come with a decent bit of ice. All in all, would highly recommend this place!

Talk about inflation, been coming to this place for years. My favorite plate here is the papaya salad, but DAMN the price for a papaya salad bump up to $16 a single bown, and the worst thing is that they give you half of what they used to serve for $10. I get it that COVID and inflation hit everyone but why give higher prices and less food. Makes no sense at all. How about the prices are high and the food is the same amount. Won’t be going here anymore. Here are some pics of my $16 bowl served less than half way, lol ridiculous.

Tantawan Thai is a great example of good food served in an unpretentious way. The tea was bright and refreshing. The catfish in spicy chili sauce was well made and the sauce was bursting with flavor. They spiced it up just right for my taste. The Chicken Green curry wasn’t as impressive as the catfish but we still enjoyed it. Ingredients were good quality and food came out quick and hot.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This definitely isn’t your average Thai place! The food here was soooo delicious. If you’re into spicy goodness, trust me, get the most spicy! If you aren’t the spicy type that’s okay, the flavors in these dishes are probably the best I’ve ever had! Happy to have found my new favorite spot 🙂 EAT HERE YOU WON’T REGRET IT!

Tantawan has nothing to envy the best Thai restaurant in Downtown LA. So fresh, authentic, and delicious. The servers are so friendly, quick and attentive. The best soups, curries, and satay.

First time here. Actually cant complain the food was amazing. Great prices. The entire staff members were so cheerful and amazing service. Ensured the family was taken care of and topped it off with a thai milk tea with boba I’m a happy camper. Highly recommend you coming here the lunch special was great. Chicken satay, bbq chicken, chicken kha. Came with rice and a salad. So worth the trip and the quantity.
