TAMU Grill has incredible Kenyan infused food. I ordered the chips masala with Kenyan sausage. The sausage was great and it paired well with the chips masala (smothered fries). I also ordered the chicken curry with chapati. The chicken was juicy and the chapati was soft, a fantastic combination! The goat curry and rice was well received by the rest of my family. TAMU Grill is the hidden gem of Cedar/Riverside!

This place is SUPER good! As a white American who has visited Kenya a couple times now this food tasted very authentic so far as I was able to tell. Also, over and above that, it was just plain delicious! We ordered a number of menu items – quality was evident throughout. Nothing disappointed. I would highly recommend! (Just a note: You need to place your order at the front counter. They bring food out to you but otherwise don’t provide traditional wait service.) NB: Pictured in this review is the nyama choma, chicken curry, spiced chips, beef samosas, sausages, and plantains.

Everything was so good and flavorful! First time eating here and ordered the beef curry, chapati and cabbage, jollof rice, and chips marsala + veggie samosas. I would recommend everything and want to try the beef samosas when I go back!

Super delicious and comforting. I got the vegan chips masala & samosa meal. I think you can tell the quality of a restaurant by their samosas & these are well seasoned, soft & flaky, but still crispy on the outside. Worth checking out!

I got the Goat Curry last night, and I am sorry but that’s NOT what goat curry should taste like. There was no flavour, just blunt, plus goat curry should be very think ,not runny. I would prefer if the chef would just fry the goat, then add onions, spices and tomatoes, the Kenyan way. The curry, leave it to the masters(Indians).

I LOVE TAMU. The space is cosy and charming, the fam that runs the place is delightful, and the food is SO GOOD. I ordered catering for a small dinner–Jollof Rice, Chicken Curry, Beans, Greens, and Plantains. The beans, greens, and plantains made such a wonderful and filling vegan dinner, and the Chicken curry was a major hit. Even the meat eaters were horking down the greens. Go once and you’re sure to become a regular.

This was our first time here and it was a nice experience, but this is not an ideal spot for large groups. We were one such group, and a smaller group of six people came in and ordered before we did. We waited over an hour for our food. We understood when we learned that there were only two people working the entire restaurant with one person manning the grill, and the food was hot and fresh and well worth the wait. The only real disappointment were the plantains, which were dry and rubbery and not what I was expecting. I’m guessing they were cooked before they were ripe, but everything else was fantastic. The dishes were served in plastic tupperware containers, so we didn’t have to ask for to-go boxes. Our server was very patient and polite too! I would definitely come back here by myself to order takeout, or dine-in with another person.
