An American Bistro punctuated with a hint of Northern Italian flair. Our seafood is fresh, our steaks are hand cut, and all our sauces, dressings and desserts are made from scratch.
The atmosphere here is unique! We’re located on the terrace level, beneath School Street Playhouse. (Hence the name “Backstage”).
The old schoolhouse was built in 1923 and is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Tam’s Backstage (opened in 2005) is a rare find and a “must try!” Serving lunch, dinner, private parties and more. We’ve become known as one of the largest caterers in north Georgia!
Steak, seafood & other American fare served in a historic building with exposed-brick walls. Based on 802 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.6 stars. Price $$

Umm sorry forgot to take a pic of the apple martini! Drank it too fast, lol. Ruff day…. Had the stuffed flounder and garlic mash potatoes along with the crab bisque. Food is always yummy . Kristen was a sweet heart. I appreciated the service and food. Definitely will be returning.

It was dark. The good was pretty good but the service was extremely slow and we were not impressed. I would not come here again. Took us also 10 minutes just to get seated and they were not very friendly or hospitable.

First time at Tam’s. We came for a rehearsal dinner so we chose our limited meal options. The dishes were excellent and the venue was really cool. Loved seeing all the old school photos on the walls and the decor. Definitely will come back to check out their regular menu and maybe spend some more time walking around.

Delicious and reasonably priced, two things we love!! We found this restaurant while looking for places on Google and couldn’t be happier we did! We tried their Calamari, as well as their Seafood Stuffed Mushroom “Dramatizers” and were very happy with both. We also ordered the New Tallant and the Crème Bruleé, both of which were delicious!! The service was very good also. We sat at the bar, and both bar tenders were very nice and helpful. We will definitely return to check out some other menu items.

If you’re looking for a unique dining experience, Tams Backstage is a place you should visit. It is an old schoolhouse that has been converted into a theater with the restaurant beneath. They have a varied menu with plenty of options – we stayed with a seafood theme – but there is plenty of tasty options. The drinks were mixed well and very reasonably priced. Our service from start to finish was 5 star. Highly recommend this gem if you are in the area.

We celebrated our first year anniversary at Tam’s Backstage. The food, location, atmosphere and staff were fabulous!! I brought items for them to set up on the table prior to our visit and everything was beautiful We will definitely visit again and it will always hold such great memories for us

I went to Tam’s my first time on a Saturday night around 7:30 pm (dining room was half full) The hostess said “Do you have reservations?” I said “No do I need them?” She acted as if she was doing me a favor by seating us and said rudely “NEXT TIME MAKE A RESERVATION!”

Our service was a little off and out of order. We missed out on a few things. However, the duck ravioli was delicious! We can’t wait to come back and try new dishes.
