This place is a sorry excuse for restaurant. As it is a Mexican custom on February 2nd (dia de la candelaria) I thought I would give this place a try to bring tamales for my family. I bought $45 worth of tamales. I had never bought such awful tamales. Every single tamal I bought had less than a tablespoon of salsa and chicken. The tamal was about 98% dough. If this was not bad enough they also used vegetable oil instead of the traditional lard. I am guessing to further cut their costs, they have decided to sell these terrible tamales to overcharge for them. I refuse to believe that any honest and dignified owner could be okay with selling $45 worth of tamales for cooked dough.

I almost left this restaurant but I glad didn’t. The total tamal is delicious and I have a menudo a little spice and the best part is the hand made tortillas

Hidden gem in Spring Branch, Houston Tx. They have authentic Mexican food and the coffee is sooooooo yummy. It’s called “café de olla”, not sure how it’s made but it has a hint of cinnamon and sugar. No need for milk, creamer or sugar… Enjoy! Oh, and they also have a kid friendly menu.

Tamales at Doña Tere used to ve very good, I start going to Bellaire location and over the time learned about there other stores. Today @ Long Point, bought one dozen without hesitation just to find out they were VERY dry, no sauce on sight, although dough was tasty, in order to enjoy, we needed to add al least 2- 3 tablespoons of sauce on top

Unfortunately the tamales were very dry and tasteless, very bad quality. Please put more effort and care in the main product

We’re trying to find Mexican tamales close to home. These aren’t it. Not sure what kind of tamales these are. LOTS of masa, small amount of meat and very little seasoning. Ordinarily, I would call these “tamales blancos” but they contain meat. We’re going back to Alamo.

The owner uses the excuse that the tamales are mostly masa and don’t have a lot of meat because they are “Mexico City style tamales” The reason they make them like that in Mexico City is to save money and sell them not because people truly enjoy those type of tamales. This place needs to get with Texas standards on what tamales are.

Not only were they the MOST overpriced tamales, they were the WORST ever!! The tamales were 80% tortilla and a very small inner layer of very dry tasteless meat with even worse sauce added. I bought 12 tamales and they cost $30! WHAT A rip off!!!!!! Buying from the little old lady that walks up and down the street taste way better and cheaper!!

The name of the cafe has Tamales in it. I expected them to specialize in making exceptional Tamales.
