I live 5 houses from here so I’ve tried a LOT of things and loved everything. But one thing I really wanted to give a special shout out for was brunch! Great covered and open outdoor seating and the brunch menu is insanely good. They brought back brunch after 3 years of not having it and it is amazing. The picture below was literally $10 for a hefty 3 egg meal that was probably one of the best meals I’ve had in Portland so far. Don’t sleep on brunch here!!!!

Really amazing tamales that are huge and super cheap. A burrito sized tamale is about $5-6/each.

I ordered from the lunch menu, Huevos Montados, three over easy on top of three crispy tostadas with bean and salsa. There was not enough bean on there. They gave you a lot of salsa. Salsa was good. Eggs were cook perfectly. Order at the window and they take food to your table. Self serve water.

Don’t get the ripoff takeout margarita! I got it home and it’s 4oz of sugar water. It looks frankly pathetic next to a $10 bill (which is what it cost). Trying to assume good intent…maybe someone new maybe didn’t add the tequila? Either way, ChaChaCha has way better takeout margaritas, and much bigger, at the same price.

Veg. Food Review: Bland Food. That’s pretty much how I sum it up. When I say bland I don’t mean hot. I mean flavors. There was hardly any flavor in the burrito bowl. Not was the salsa and chips any good. So popular but definitely different than what I ate long time ago. Alas. It looked good for sure. Service was lovely.

Tamale Boy is a great Portland staple. Lots of great authentic Mexican food at a decent price. Order online line, pick up, or eat there. Beers, horchata, taps, lots of local options at a decent price. There is never a long wait to sit or to get your food. The covered heated patio is great. The tacos are fabulous, and the queso and chips and salsa are great. I love the Tinga de Pollo. Plenty of veggie options for that vegetarian in you.

This is a hidden Portland gem. We visited on an extremely hot day which is the only reason I can think why their large covered patio was not packed. The portions are generous with fresh ingredients prepared traditionally. Let’s just say the tamales aren’t wrapped in a corn husk. We will be back soon!

I think I might have caught Tamale Boy on an off day. I ordered some red sauce enchiladas, a carne asada burrito, and fried plantains to go. Service was a little slow, so when I got home and discovered that my burrito had carnitas instead of carne asada I felt frustrated. I returned to the restaurant and they promptly made me another burrito at no extra charge.

OMG. Everything was delicious. The tamales were huge! We got mole, cochinita pibil and rajas. The Brussels Sprouts were great! The jicama and watermelon salad was so fresh. Can’t wait to visit again!!

I go here all the time after Soccer and it has such a nice outdoor patio space. Their food is really good too, I like their tacos in particular and the margaritas with agave are bomb.
