Walked into this place by accident and I was happy I did. Stopped in around lunch time and got the roast pork with rice and beans. The pork was seasoned just thr way I like it. Had a stuffed potato as an appetizer that was fresh and delicious. The passion fruit juice was really good. Sorry about the pic I realized I should take one half way through eating lol.

Heard good things about this place so here we go. For appetizers my wife and I each ordered Alcapurrias. She had the cassava and I had the green banana. It was very good and filling. I liked mine better. Then we had our main plates. I had the Pernil Asado (Roasted Pork) with arroz con gandules w/maduros. It was very good and tasty. I asked if I can get cuero (skin) and she wasn’t sure if they had anymore. Lucky for me they did and it was nice and crunchy. My wife had the carne asado (roast beef) with white rice and maduros. I had a taste of her dish and must say the meat was soft and tasty. We drank it down with mango juice and she had the lemonade (2 of them and they charged us twice for this!?). Most places we’ve been too they DO NOT charge for Lemonade refills. But it is what it is. for dessert I had the Flan/Vanilla and it was ok, I had better. My wife had the tres leche and it was not soggy like it should be. All in all It was a pleasant experience. Would I go back? Not if they don’t give refills on Lemonade (the least they can do). For that I took off One Star

It’s not even close. This is THEE authentic Puerto Rican culinary experience near my beloved Rutgers University-Newark campus. Today, I had the avocado salad with grilled chicken (highly recommended) with a splash of red vinegar and olive oil. Oh my! Pull up and thank me later. Leave a tip for the gracious service. Oh, one last thing, jugo de tamarindo.

First time there since they opened January 10, 2023. The old spot in Newark on Mount prospect is closing. The food made to Fresh. BYOB as well. Not too prices. Good portion size. The Clover machine is not updated. Paying with cash is a lot better than paying with a credit card. It’s not easy to find parking They do speak English/Spanish. Family oriented. They do Take-Out Orders.

If you are in Newark and looking for a nice place to eat, I highly recommend Taino’s Kitchen. The grilled salmon, rice & peas and tostones were all excellent! I will definitely be back to try more dishes in the future.

I ordered from Uber eats. It’s safe food. The stew chicken taste like chicken soup. It’s made with carrots and potatoes. Similar to how Ecuadorians make their stew chicken. I was in the mood for that kind of chicken stew so I was okay with it. The beans taste safe. Next time I’ll try their mofongo.

A bit underwhelming honestly. I ordered the roasted chicken with white rice and beans for takeout. Plantains are an additional side $. For a Puerto Rican restaurant, I was expecting more flavor from the chicken. But it’s no different from your Shoprite rotisserie chicken… which makes me sad . Still patiently waiting for Newark to present some flavorful Caribbean food instead of this washed down American-ized flavor profile.

I visited this place and was instantly impressed by the warm atmosphere and friendly staff. I’ve visited many different spanish restaurants but this one here has got me with their home style recipes. I ordered some arcapurias for appetizers, and I got so happy when they arrived because they looked like some Hass avocados with how they was shaped. Everything ordered had great taste and great presentation. Will return very soon.

I was walking to a cafe nearby and came across Taino’s. I decided to pop in and try it out. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming & inviting. I was immediately greeted by a lovely lady. I ordered the papa rellenos & beef stew with rice. Everything was delicious! Authentic Puerto Rican food! Salsa music playing. Cool ambience & laid back vibes. Amazing hospitality. I usually go all the way to Hudson County for delish Puerto Rican/Cuban food. So happy I have this spot right on Halsey. I will definitely be back soon!

I probably got the bad plate of food but my meal was sadly NOT good. I didn’t enjoy it at all. Tasted like leftover food. Even the rice was crunchy. Eat at your own risk. I will not eat food at this location again.
