Came here for the first time tonight and couldn’t have loved the experience more! We’re from Texas/Arizona so are always looking for more authentic Mexican food in Maryland, and we have officially found it! The owner and staff were so friendly and even let us sample some things. We got a carne asada quesadilla, red tamale (the BEST I’ve had in such a long time), 2 asada tacos, 1 pastor taco and a side of black beans. Everything was so good and worth getting a second time, but our favorites were the tamale and the pastor taco. They also gave us all 4 salsas to try. Salsas from left to right: a more traditional red, chipotle, verde, and habanero. Our favorites were the two red ones and the verde, but they’re all delicious! We will definitely be coming back!

My nephew told me to try this authentic Mexican joint that took over Yummys spot on Great Mills Road. The owner was very pleasant. I just wanted a meat taco since it was late in the day. I got more than what I paid for because we lost the order in translation. Anyway, affordable, authentic and I will be back again. He said come visit again for the tamales.

This place is the REAL DEAL. Everything is AMAZING. The owners are super friendly and make everything fresh daily. Anyone who thinks Chipotle is good Mexican food needs to stop by here for an education.

How does this place not have more reviews and more stars?!?! Up to the area on another trip to Pax River needing someplace to eat and always on the lookout for getting Mexican food thought I would give Tacos Hernandez my business today! I am so happy I did, outstanding customer service, a small place very quaint and authentic! The food was amazing -corn tortillas homemade- beans and rice -Carnitas tacos everything was delicious and could not ask for better!! Will be eating here on every trip to PAX!

This place is so good! By far the best Mexican food in the area. I am from California and used to a high standard and this place holds up. The Al Pastor was amazing, so much flavor. Carnitas is crispy and so full of flavor. Homemade tamales and salsas that are some of the best I’ve had made us love our time here. Also very friendly service. Can’t recommend enough.

Service was spectacular, the menu was small , but with all the right choices. The tacos were tasty and the perfect size, but their tamales could use a little work. The tamale was good, but to be great, the consistency and portions need some work. Overall, it is a great lunch/dinner spot with a little seating inside where you can watch the prep and cooking right from your table. I’ll definitely be back for more.

My husband was recently stationed at NAS Pax River and finding this very much authentic Mexican restaurant really brought joy to my heart. The service was excellent and the person who took our order was so kind and understanding while I was explaining my husbands preferences for his street tacos (I speak Spanish so my husband prefers me to order for him). The food was delicious and we definitely will be coming back.

Finally, we have a great place for Mexican food in southern maryland. I moved here from southern California and have really missed good authentic mexican food. Tacos hernandez is by far the best place around. Make sure you check out the daily specials.
