Juan Francisco Ochoa, known as Don Pancho to his friends and family, was in search of an opportunity to bring his love and passion of Mexican cuisine to the United States. This is how the Palenque chain was born. Originally from Sinaloa, Mexico, Don Pancho first founded El Pollo Loco, which was such a success. This led him to open another restaurant, Taco Palenque®, in 1987 in Laredo, Texas.
It has become the ultimate location to spend time with family and friends while enjoying a delicious, unforgettable and authentic Mexican food. In fact, positive word-of-mouth has led to new and loyal customers, building on to Don Pancho’s passion for providing unique dishes in a comfortable setting.

Kids playground is open !!! I wish i could give it ten stars. This place has really good tacos with real fajita and the portions are huge. There was a small line to order when we arrived but it moved fast. Customer service is right on point. Their salsa bar well stocked and super clean. They have food for all ages.

One of the better Taco Palenques. I love the fajita plate and breakfast potato and egg tacos (corn tortilla). Salad bar is awesome plus free chips. They do have Coke Zero. They also have a small playground for kids, a sink for washing hands outside the bathrooms, and plenty of seating. Parking can be limited during peak times, but the next-door parking lot is big and empty.

Good I went to a couple of these places before and never disappointed. It’s like a fast food place for tacos.

TERRIBLE SERVICE I only have 1 hr for lunch was in the mood for Mexican food so I tried to phone in an order for pick up. I thought if I ordered it ahead of time I wouldn’t loose time in line on the drive thru. BIG MISTAKE I called 3x to place an order but the lady kept hanging up on me while I was placing my order. I didn’t understand why she was being so rude to me as if me calling in was a bother to her. her voice sounded annoyed as hell I thought maybe she was over whelmed with work or something but that was no excuse for her to rude to me I was not the cause of her having a bad day. after my 3rd attempt at redialing in i just gave up. the lady was obviously not in the mood to take my order and I figured Taco Palenque really doesn’t need my business.

First off the drive thru teller does not speak English, so it was harder to order in Spanish than English. She was a bit rude or maybe because my Spanish isn’t really good I got that vibe. Ordered taco combo and a fajita papa, the online menu says its called a “Super Papa” but she didn’t know what I was talking about. Got home just to find my papa didn’t have fajita nor did they add my fideo from the taco combo. Very annoying. Called manager said he would fix my order but did not feel like driving 15 minutes back for that. My wife just ate her taco and threw up. The cheese was spoiled. Very disappointed.

Taco Palenque is our families favorite. When we want to eat out and no one can agree….we always can agree on Taco Plaenque. The best thing about this place is the chips and toppings bar. The freshest vegetables and delicious salsas make any Taco amazing, but the Fajita tacos here are amazing. The fajita is always juicy and soft. No leather meats. Only downside is they don’t serve sausage and there are not many choices for deserts. Kids meals are always a good deal and come with drinks. The cover is a little hard to put on but you won’t have spilled juice! The atmosphere is a little cold and uncomfortable, but the delicious food makes up for it.
