My tacos made a “phhllp” noise as they flooped out of the wrapper. The tacos were good but pretty greasy, even staining the tortilla brown some. The little potato things were good, reminding me of Burger King hash browns but crispier. They’ll prompt you if you want cheese sauce for the potato things. I recommend it, as the fake nacho cheese sauce is often my favorite part of these kinds of joints.

I only got a small snack, the nacho crunch beef burrito. For $2 it was fine. But what I’m really reviewing here is the extra hot green sauce! That stuff is awesome. This is my first visit to Taco Johns so when the guy asked if I wanted sauce I said give me whatever your hottest is (since Taco Bell has two levels past hot). He gave me the hot packets, which only come in mild and hot, but also gave me a to go condiment cup with this verde hot sauce he said was extra hot. For a fast food place it was spicy! Really good. If ghost pepper is a 10 and franks is like a 2, I’d say it was around a 5-6, and super flavorful. Really in my wheel house. I’ll go back just for that. The regular hot sauce was good too, a little sweet, not that spicy, good flavor.

Although new to West Michigan Taco John’s was founded in 1969, in the state of Wyoming. We learned part of that from their packaging and the rest from one of their nice young employees. The food is better than Taco Bell but as it is fast food it is only so good. Taco John’s is fast food tacos, like McDonald’s is to Wahlburgers. I got their Super Nachos and a cheese quesadilla. My wife got their chicken quesadilla. We also got their Mexican Donut Bites. The quesadillas were good. The Donut Bites were alright but not the best food restaurant desserts, or on the top end of the list. Being a brand new restaurant it is clean, and even well staffed. I plan to go back to try more items. As it is not in my normal path of travel I doubt it will not be any time soon. Although not a stellar review I do recommend Taco John’s.

First try, not impressed. We did take out and when we got home, noticed they forgot something so had to drive back up there to get the missing item. They weren’t even busy at the moment and someone else came in at the same time saying they were missing something from their order. No apologies or offer of something to make up for their mistake. Food was cold, even before we found that item was missing, all items in the bag were cold and we only live 3 minutes away. Had to warm everything up in the microwave before eating. The burrito was just a sloppy mess, half of it was sour cream and nothing else. The chips for the nachos and cheese dip were SO stale and hard, I took one bite of a chip and it literally hurt my teeth and my tooth hurt off and on the rest of the day, no joke. Threw it all away. We ordered this food at 11am so guessing we got chips from the night before? We spent $40 on garbage food, will not be back.

Flavor was lacking with the chicken burrito, and small portions for the price. Not impressed. Have caution with the pricing, when the 2 tacos says it costs $2 and some cents, that means per taco and not total. Menu tries to trick you. And surely this taco in the picture is not worth $2, more like 50 cents. Would rather go to Taco Bell, Qdoba, or Chipotle.

Bought 2 burritos and a pop for $9 today. They were good, but tiny. The bigger of the two was a steak and potato burrito for $3.79, pictured. Seemed about one third the size of a $4 Taco Bell burrito.

Everyone is nice and the food tastes great, but these guys must be crazy short staffed. It’s always slow and mistakes are semi-common. Best to go when there’s no line and still expect to wait; however, this usually means the food is fresh, and a fresh fried chicken taco really hits the spot.

While I really enjoy Taco John’s, the food is tasty, and they have items that you can’t get from the other big taco dealers. The service is not good, it took over 25 minutes for our order to come out. They didn’t seem like they knew what they were doing. Very unorganized, like there was no management. The facility was very nice.

Wow. I’m not one to jump to leave reviews. However, after almost $30 for two meals. Neither of which were EDIBLE…. This needs to be said. Rice in burritos was rock hard. Impossible to eat unless you want a cracked tooth. Aside from that, ever order a steak burrito but they um… forgot the steak?
