The Jalea was hot, fresh and delicious. Didn’t get the 5th star because the portion has gotten smaller from previous times and didn’t come with the large Peruvian corn kernels, nor lime or lemon wedges. The waitress was friendly and accommodating and the bathroom was clean and well stocked… only downside is the parking which can be a bit dangerous seeing as Sylvia’s was so packed that there is not enough parking spots. A real hole-in-the-wall treat!

Everyone is friendly but the picarones were not good, almost no color or flavor outside of the syrup which was cold. I really don’t like to nitpick but this is a cheap street food in Peru so when you pay $10 for only 4 rings that taste like plain fried dough, you will definitely feel short changed. The anticuchos are definitely good though, as well as the rest of the menu. But please step it up on the picarones.

I went one busy morning, they weren’t very nice asking me to wait, but the food was ok, very small bread for that breakfast (Desayuno criollo). I’ll give them another chance.

Sorry for this rating, but i would probably even rated lower than that for a cafe food quality. It’s been over salted and overall didn’t taste that great as expected. Sadly, I also noticed that some kitchen staff visible from eating area were not wearing gloves or had their hair coverings while prepping food won’t be back there
