While traveling through the area, we decided to grab some breakfast and then popped into Sylvia’s Cafe without knowing what to expect. It was a Saturday, and the place was packed, but the wait was worth it! We put our name on the waiting list, and it was about a 20 min wait.

Legendary staple of Ellsworth for years! I started out washing dishes here as a teenager to pay for drivers education when it was located down the hall from the restaurant. Now I take my kids here for delicious breakfast and memories. I always order the #1 and my kids get chocolate chip pancakes. Eggs are always cooked to perfection. The waitresses are friendly and attentive. This place looks and sounds exactly as it did when I was young. “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!” certainly applies to Sylvia’s Cafe. Stop on in and enjoy some amazing home cooking! P.S don’t let the line scare you, it move’s really fast.

You may get directed to Sylvia’s as a local hot spot, but I found it a not so hot spot. This popular senior hangout feels like walking into the 50s. The clientele is in no hurry to get moving, so dont be surprised if you have to wait to get seated. The shared bathrooms are down the hall of the building. The pancakes were dense and dry, the bacon burnt, the corned beef was boasted to be good but was grainy and dry and the table was wobbly, but there was a cool mural, so there’s that.

Amazing diner, in this small town. Will definitely visit again.

While on vacation, we stopped at Sylvia’s for breakfast. The homemade hash is outstanding! I was very impressed with the entire experience . The waitress was very friendly and efficient. We sat in the area where you can see them cooking. The man and women were soooo on point with each other and the wait staff. ! The entire staff clicks, and works like a well oiled machine. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for breakfast or lunch.

We had the Haddock sandwich and special turkey BLT with cranberry mayo. Let’s just say the haddock was amazeballs! Yummy, crisp outside, soft and tender inside. Not often do restaurants get deep frying fish correct. This was perfect! The turkey was fresh sliced turkey breast and the cran-mayo added zing. We will be back!

Went in with the family. Was served very fast friendly waitress. And the food was good. I’d recommend going if you want a good diner style restaurant… and the lemonade was one of the best I’ve ever had

Small restaurant inside, but food was worth it. Drinks were brought out quickly! The whole family had a variety of items and they were all delicious from bagel sandwich, to omelet and the scrambler.

I was blown away by the people that work here. My pregnant wife was feeling very sick while we were eating and the servers rallied and took such amazing care of both of us. I can not speak enough to their kindness. Plus, their crab roll was better than anything you’d get in bar harbor
