Great smokehouse next to a river. Great selection of smoked meats with options for sandwiches, salads, and sides. The service is excellent. Food is served on picnic tables inside, covered outside, and outside with umbrellas. Great and quick service. It’s not cheap, but the food is high quality. Highly recommend the duck with root beer bbq sauce. They have a couple beers on tap and a decent selection of bottles. Great stop returning from the area to Denver.

I ordered brisket for $44 but it looks like I got dry roast beef instead. Also not a fan of waiting in line to order while other people ponder what they want to eat.

I come from a place of smoke and meat, the land of Slap’s, Harp, Artur bryant, KC Joes, Q39, Zarda, Gates, Jack Stack, Chef J’s and to many more to name. I was raised gumming burnt ends and brisket from birth and this my friends is some BBQ I would happily allow my newborn to skip the breast for. Switchback smokehouse will from now on be what I measure Colorado BBQ by. Sauces are on point, ribs are perfection, bacon was fun, chicken was delicious, brisket is weird for me because of my origins but I would happily transition. The pulled pork was juicy and flavorful, the sides were fantastic. If I don’t return. It will only be because a bear ate me after smelling their barbecue on my breath. Is this KCs BBQ, no. This is Colorado BBQ and I approve.

Outstanding experience. Arguably the best bbq I’ve had. No idea how they get so much flavor in their products! A fantastic place to enjoy lunch along the creek.

Well I did see only that when the run out they run out. I figured if we arrived around 4:45 on a Saturday we would be able to get most of the food. I was wrong drove the 40 minutes to get pulled pork. They were out of all the other meats. Now it was good pork but not 40 minutes and the cost we paid worth. This is definitely a LUNCH spot not a dinner spot. If you are driving by and want to stop after lunch and see if they have anything that works but they need to make a post somewhere when they run out of food. Not a fan of the backed beans they had an odd flavor, the mac and cheese looked like Velveeta with some added seasoning, they did get better as they thickened up. We also wanted to use a high chair but they were pretty dirty with food and black crud from being left outside. I could see this place tasting great but they need to advertise it differently. Maybe put closed on google when you have 1 meat left and over an hour of business left open.

The BEST BBQ I’ve had in ColoRADo the smoke ring in that tri tip shows it all! Tri tip is only served Thursday’s- and man is it worth it. Cowboy beans are delicious- they don’t taste like BBQ sauce like everyone else makes- the coleslaw was ok- I swear it had a little heat that slowly crept up. The Mac and cheese was also awesome- sorry no photo we ate it so fast. The pulled pork was a hit on our group too. All 4 BBQ sauces were delicious- the root beer bbq sauce and mule were my favorites and the mustard sauce was good too and would be amazing with a hot link. Home made lemonade was also on point. Seriously- seriously delicious ☺️ and top it off- the staff were all incredibly polite, friendly and over all happy. If I had to live in the neighborhood behind the restaurant I’d be drooling all day over that smoker – MUST DO for anyone visiting and a requirement for residents! I was too full to for dessert… guess I’ll have to come back

Ordered ribs, the duck, and waffle fries x2. They did not deliver our fries and claimed we didn’t order them and acted annoyed. I Had to go find the receipt to prove it, they weren’t very nice about it. The duck was delicious but the portion size was more like a snack but at a full meal price. Overall good. Great atmosphere.

Come to this place if you want to be made a fool of. Order the sloppy, slimey thinly sliced PASTRAMI disguised under the name brisket. I just paid $30 f’ng dollars for hot nasty pastrami and under salted fries. I’m livid. It’s like eating hot sandwich meat. Won’t be back. Every single sauce here sucks as well. Felt like throwing the pastrami at their entrance.
