Great restaurant, great service, excellent food! Our server Jennifer couldn’t be any nicer. Prices are a bit high but food portions are enormous! The side of pancakes could be a meal in itself. The jambalaya omelette was really tasty. Even the standard coffee was really good! Highly recommend!

Came here after church and was seated right away! Ample indoor and outdoor seating with a coffee bar as well. HUGE menu but something for everybody’s liking. I ordered the southwestern wrap with a side of buffalo and ranch. It comes with soup and a choice of side (fries, orzo pasta salad, or tricolor pasta salad). The buffalo sauce was homemade, spicy, and AMAZING! I love spicy food and can handle a lot of spice but this buffalo sauce was extra hot. Fast service – was seated, fed, and out of there in 20 minutes. A little pricey for my liking ($24) for lunch and the orange juice was $6 which I thought was a too much. Overall great new addition to Algonquin. They are open until 9pm so they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Food was really good. Lot of dishes to choose from the menu. Maybe to much ? Service was good. They greeted you right when you walk in the front. Was not a wait at the time.

The food was okay, I had a jalapeño burger & asked for medium and got well done.. I ate it anyway. The soups were pretty average for a diner setting. I did really enjoy the coffee flight because we got to try a lot of different flavors. I work in the restaurant industry so small things like having to wait almost 20 minutes for drinks was slightly annoying, and the service all around was a little slow but they are new so that’s expected I guess. It’s very average and if I’m spending almost 60-80$ for 2 people I’m expecting great food and excellent service.

Upon arriving the inside was humid. Air was on but just a damp humid feel in the air. Water tumblers were sweating. I ordered a steak skillet with pancakes. My wife ordered a breakfast combo. Scrabbled eggs, 3 strips of bacon, Hashbrowns and toast. We both agreed that the food lacked flavor. The Hashbrowns tasted of the oil it was fried in. The eggs also had the same taste. The steak in my skillet was medium. I’m a well guy. But they didn’t ask how I wanted it. They were strips of steak with no flavor. Pancakes were huge but nothing spectacular. All in all it was an expensive bull for mediocre food. I won’t be going back to try dinner as the menu is saturated with high priced food and if it all tastes like breakfast, then I’ll just cook my own at home!

I wouldn’t recommend this place at all, and I definitely won’t be going back there again. Let me tell you, the food was a big disappointment, and they didn’t treat us well as customers.

Been here for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Service is AWESOME. Very nice people with good manners working here. For breakfast I had eggs, bacon. Bacon was not crispy as I asked for, but all in all good. My daughter had the best Crepe. Very nicely arranged and tasty. Thanks Team Basil Cafe 🙂

This restaurant is Top Notch. From the hostess to server, food and cashier professionals from the start. I eat here regularly. Jan, who used to serve me at Rainbow works here now. (Quite a step up) Her service is impeccable. The food is above par. 5 star or more on all the food I have eaten. Nary a bad meal. I usually come on weekends and always greeted by the smiling face of Bella. If I haven’t been there in a few days she always asks where I have been. You build the rapport with people. I try to come on days when Jan is there, but have been there other times and and still great service. I’d suggest and of the Stuffed French Toasts. Marvelous and Delicious!! Kudos to a great team and great restaurant.

Forgot to write this review when I visited a few short weeks back with my mom and godmother. I’ve been to this place before when it was Mimi’s Cafe and I really loved the interior and the aesthetic of the building. I know it’s gone through several different owners, and names, in the past and I’m happy to have been able to come back and check it out as Sweet Basil. We went late morning and we all ordered breakfast. I was surprised at how big the portion sizes were and I almost didn’t finish my food; my mom and godmother ended up taking home left overs. Our waitress was very nice and very helpful as well if we had any questions. It didn’t feel too busy when we went, which was just fine with us. I really want to go back soon and get the rice pudding; I wanted to try it when I was there last, but I was just way too full to have anything else to eat. And, I’d be more than happy to give some of the other items a try as well.

I really want to like this place. Ordered their swedish pancakes and what came out is SUPER sweet crepes (sweet crust made my teeth ache sweet). Call it crepes with lingonberry. The lingonberry sauce was very watery and when poured onto pancakes, there was a total of 3 whole lingonberries. Put cream in coffee and it curdles.. Asked for eggs to be over medium, came out over easy. Picture shows swedish pancakes with butter spread throughout and dark red is the lingonberry liquid.
