What an incredible experience…. Food was off the charts amazing, and each course was a surprise. We were both surprisingly full at the end. Their cold sake menu is pretty extensive with some rare (and expensive) options. They offer beer and hot sake also, but no (western) wine option. There’s no way I could pick just one dish as the favorite as each was amazing…even the desert (coffee flavored custard/gelee with a chocolate espresso bean garnish) was amazing. My wife said it was arguably the best dessert she’s ever had. Reservations required and fill up fast…

I think the star rating here on Google is exactly correct (When writing this:4.7). This is such an amazing omakase experience there is no complaints and I would gladly return. On that same note, the canonization of a Michelin Star sets the expectation to perfection. Can Sushi Tadokoro stay relevant? I hope so.

I came here after learning that this place received a Michelin star! They happened to have a spot open for me. If anyone is curious, the omakase is the same price during lunch as it is dinner ($160). I ended up getting the mushroom salad, the TKS (Tuna, kampachi, salmon, 2 pc/each – total $32), and a tuna cut roll. Very happy with my choices and would come again soon!

Best Sashimi quality in San Diego. It was sooo fresh. You NEED a reservation. I only got sat because I was 1 person but make sure to make a reservation as seating is limited. I loved that for certain fish they did give you additional garnishes to make a sauce with. Everything is made in front of you and this place was well worth it. It’s not any more expensive then anywhere else and the experience overall was 10/10.

Freshness and quality of the food was outstanding however, We had a hard time with the texture of 90% of the items served at the omakase. Too many soft, mushy items served in a row made it very difficult to keep moving forward, I skipped several items which is unfortunate because it was VERY expensive. Even the dessert was a coffee flavored jello/custard type. Their should be a mix of textures and flavors in an omakase, so we were pretty disappointed that their wasn’t. The alive, moving shrimp with his tail chopped off was a surprise and made us kind of squeamish to move forward with dinner, since we were already struggling with the texture. the lady at the table next to us actually screamed when she got served her moving shrimp. the Service was great. parking lot is tiny.

Loved our omakase experience here. Booked ahead of time for my partner’s birthday. This place gets booked well ahead of time , so only slot I could find was 6 pm. We went in to the unassuming strip mall kind of place to find it was already filled with customers even at 6 pm. our server was extremely courteous and as expected in an omakase , explained each dish to us. Presentation was flawless and every dish was different from the other. We also ordered a sake bottle of our choice(pricier than if you bought it yourself as expected in a restaurant) which went well with the food.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. The difference between good sushi and this level quality is clear fun the first bite.

Sushi Tadokoro Omikase at the bar was an incredible experience. The food was top notch and the service incredible. I loved watching the three sushi chefs prepare the food right in front of me. They took the time to chat, explain what I was eating, where the ingredients were from etc. The decor and atmosphere were nice, but not fancy. Definitely more of a local neighborhood joint feel vs fine dining. They don’t have to impress with fancy decor, because the food speaks for itself.

This was the most amazing experience! I love sushi but I’ve never had omakase before; it was pricey but definitely worth it. Everything tasted amazing and Chef Takeaki made it perfect. This place basically ruined all other sushi for me. Thank you for such a wonderful birthday dinner
