Ordered the omakase, a wagyu beef curry, and a super Sam special hand roll. We also shared the chicken karaage between 2 couples. The omakase was priced at 76/person, the wagyu beef curry was unfortunately mostly vegetables, there were only 2 cubes of beef in our order. The hand roll was tasty. Omakase comes with a dessert you can select from. The omakase had 5 pieces that are on the special fish nigiri menu, and 3 of them were MP, the toro, copper river salmon, and uni. We had ordered the sea bass separately.

Really high quality and creative dishes that uses seasonal ingredients, price is higher than the mid-tier sushi place but the quality is in the top-tier. The setting feels like a home-run izakaya. The servers are all very nice and chatty about the dish and omakase selections, giving you the backgrounds of the seasonal ingredients. A few downsides: 1) you have to walk-in fo make a reservation (we did it a week in advance). Don’t try to call because the line always drops. 2) The wait in-between dishes are quite long. 3) Expect to pay tad more but the quality is well worth it.

Extremely busy place in San Mateo for dinner. The restaurant feels and smells like a pretty old place and the workers seem really busy.

Best Spider Roll in town, still use real crab, which has so much more flavor than when using imitation. Nigiri roll prices are less expensive than other places in San Mateo County, surprised since the fish is fresh, and portion sizes are good. Quick service, and food is delivered as it’s being made. Edamame arrived piping hot, really like the extra salt they put on them, brings out the flavor of the beans. Wish we would have come back years ago instead of waiting more than a dozen.

Their food exceeded my expectations! Every is fresh and well designed. The only thing I don’t like is the white salmon nigiri sushi. The flavor of sesame oil and soy sauce overwhelmed the fish itself. Toro sashimi tastes amazing.

Super good nigiri sushi in San Mateo! We ordered the omakase and added 4 more pieces. The pieces were all really big and fresh. The difference sauce that the chef used complemented each fish well. The waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. The vibe at the restaurant was casual and upbeat.

A delicious mini omakase place with knowledgable staff that knows his sake very well and what is in season. They rotate their menu seasonally, so you won’t find the same nigiri offered all the time. Their menu is hyper-focused on quality sashimi and nigiri. There are other offerings like tempura udon and rolls, so I need to try them to see the complete picture of how well they do. Their core competencies is very well executed, but definitely, the rice could be a bit more compact to hold the fish better.
